Default Anyone have the Seidio charging cradle yet? - 01-10-2007, 12:37 PM

I received mine today. It looked like a quality piece. Notice I said look"ed" right? It has a rubber feel like the rubberized case that they sell. It comes with an adapter that allows you to charge the pearl without a case or skin. Its kinda hard to pull out but it does come out to allow you to charge with a skin or case. After I pulled out the adapter I put my pearl in and it wouldn't charge right. The little tabs inside the cradel don't stick out far enough to reach inside the skin to actually touch. I was playing with it to see how it had to sit in the cradle so it would charge. Come to find out there is not enough pressure pushing it backwards to charge. So my solution was to put a pen cap in front of the pearl. And with the pen cap wedged in there it pushes it back far enough to charge. I didn't try it without the skin yet so it may work better that way. But it would suck to have to take off my skin everynight to charge it. It also looks kinda retarded with a pen cap sticking out of the front too.

I hate to knock your company Seidio but I gotta tell it like it is. You guys are shootin pretty bad with me. First my rubberized case had the top tab break for no reason (which is being replaced under warranty, BTW) and now the chargin cradle that was supposed to be my nightstand charging solution doesn't work so well. Its a nice product but it should of had a little more refinement to make sure it sat properly in the cradle for charging.

Just my two cents. Sorry to put you on blast Seidio. Anyone else have thoughts on this charging cradle?

I don't recall Seidio saying it would work with a skin. They did say that it would with their cases. I don't have a skin per se other than BSE (which hardly counts). I have no problem with it making contact so it will charge. To me, it would be almost perfect if they had put a little more weight in the base. Otherwise, I think they did a great job for the price.

BTW-

I'm pretty sure they said it would work with their case and skin. I have the seidio 8100 skin on my phone. I'll check on their website and see though.

It does appear that they say it will work. Not having played with an 8100 enough to make an educated guess about it, I'd just check and make sure the cutourts for the charging port on the back of the device are big enough and all....
