Cool 7100T Password wont disable - 01-17-2007, 01:47 AM

When I go to security options > general settings >the password and security timeout does not give me the option to change. I want to disable password and set timeout for longer than 2 minutes but nothing. I have a 7105 that is similiar and it gives me the option to change these. Anyone have any idea what is wrong? I always have to put in my password, it get really anoying haveing to enter a password evertime I want to use my phone.

Sounds like the 7100t has had an IT policy applied at some point. If so the policy is restricting the ability to remove the password requirement.

Can it be changed? I wiped the phone and reloaded software on it but it still wont allow me to change it. Is there something physical in the phone I can change out?

Search for "Remove IT Policy"; there is also a posting the BBFAQ section on the forums.

Good luck and welcome.

You can remove the IT policy with the info NJBlackberry provided...HOWEVER, only do this if this is your own personal BB and you are not connected to your company's BES server. It's common to buy a used BB that still has an IT policy on it from the last user and that's what this fix is for. If you are connected to your company's server then deleting the policy will only result in the policy being pushed back again and put your job in jeapardy.
