I got a new BB 7100. I've had it for about a week and today I noticed something very strange.

The Microphone and the speaker are not working anymore; that is, if I make or receive a call, I won't be able to hear anything and the other party won't hear me either.

NOW, HERE IS THE CATCH!.

If I use the headset, it works OK.
If I use the speakerphone, IT WORKS TOO. I can hear and be heard, but if I decide to grab it and put it next to my ear, it won't work.

Does anybody now if it has to independent microphones? One for regular phone and another one for speakerphone.

Is there a software setting for this? I've been looking but couldn't find anything either.

Any comments would be much appreciated. If I don't find anything I guess I'll have to take it back to the store.

Pop out the battery and see if that helps out.

Yup, did that. Removed the battery put it back in and no luck.

It's likely a software issue since the mic is working in SPh mode. I would have suggested the same as NJ but it's likely a service center issue now.

its probably independant microphones as well

It's not.

There are two one for voice and one for noise cancelling. The SPh mode and normal talk use the same mic.

Maybe you have a magnet in your head and everytime you go to use the phone it enters it's sleep mode...
