7280 Error Code 507 -
06-06-2005, 06:09 PM
Hmm....Got an error message with a picture of a rectangle with a circle, square and triangle in it, with a big circle with a line across it and the number 507 at the bottom.
Remove battery and reset, same thing.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

I think 507 is the error code for "out of memory" is the device recognized by the descktop manager? If so you may need to download the javaloader.exe (do a search) I'm sure it's been posted on the forum. Device may require a clean wipe and re-install of the OS.

507 means no operating system found. You will need to reload the OS, per finch's note.

Error 507 -
06-11-2005, 06:14 PM
My 7510 blackberry all of a sudden stopped to charge the battery and the indicator stopped to appear. I was almost 100% sure that the battery was bad, so I bought a new one. The same problem continued. I thought that maybe it was a software problem cause lately the blackberry sofware was slow and crashing. With all of this going on, I could intellisync with my computer (the computer could detect the blackberry). I decided to install again the blackberry software hopping that everything would be ok. Now:
* The blackberry has the error 507
* The computer recognizes the blackberry. When it is Uploading the BB software everything goes fine until the step 2 "wait for handheld system initialization" starts. The blackberry screen shows again the 507 error and then when the step 3 "Load the radio software" finishes another screen appears on my computer monitor saying:
Unable to complete the loading operation
"A fatal error has occurred while updating your handheld's software. Please try again.Device communications error encountered. [P:0x0000000E]"
I've tried to remove the desktop manager as well the handheld software and reinstall again with both versions 3.7 and 4.0. The program does the same thing.
I also tried to delete the vendor.xlm file and nothing happens.
What should I do?

Are you connected directly to your PC or via a hub. I've had that problem when connecting via a hub. Also, that's been seen with some laptops.
Try loading the OS again, plugged directly to the USB port on the PC. Other than that, it could be hardware

OS Restore -
06-20-2005, 08:32 AM
I managed to delete the operating system from my 7180 blackberry when I tried to clear the data. Can you tell me how to re-install the operating system. I tried using the data loader but I had not backed it up before the deletion. (I used someones advice to set the password and then let it fail 10 times).
Thanks,

Hey, did you have any luck?
I just tried updating my 7100t, but i got the 507 code.
How do I go about cleaning my 7100t (using javaloader.exe?) and reinstalling the OS (should I be using the Desktop Manager to install the OS)
Thanks guys

A "507" means there is no operating system found. The load failed.
You do not need to run Javaloader - there is nothing to erase. A 507 means it was already erased.
Make sure you have the latest version of the handheld O/S loaded onto the PC. Then connect the BB and start Desktop Manager. The OS should reload.

The Desktop Manager does not recognize when I attach my 7100t to USB.
I made sure under connections that it chooses USB, but when I press DETECT, it find nothing. Any other suggestions?
BTW, I downloaded the lasted Desktop Manager and Handheld software.

Run the Application Loader. It should detect your USB device. Follow the prompts from there. Make sure you check the boxes for all the apps you want to install.

Ok. At first my laptop wouldn't detect it. So I Loaded Desktop manager and handheld updates to my desktop. It recognized my 7100t the first time. It loaded everything successfully. But when I took it out from USB port, the hourglass stayed on for like 7 minutes. I took out the battery and same thing. It doesn't showing anything but the hourglass. Anyone's blackberry takes this long to load?
btw, i still didn't get past the hourglass. i'm worried why it doesn't load anything even after updating.

It can take up to 20 minutes to load the software. Let it go. If you popped out the battery in the middle, I have no idea what condition your BB is in.

Thanks for all your help. The phone turned on and it works
For some reason my laptop always gives me problems (couldn't restore backup), but my desktop does not.
Anyone know why?
Thanks!

Are you using a hub or straight through to the PC/laptop? I've had all sorts of problems when using USB hubs.

Using the USB connection on back of the laptop (no hub). I actually figured to try the desktop route since earlier you wrote that hubs and some laptops had issues with USB connection recognizing the blackberry. Can't figure why it would matter though...

could be, i noticed some improvents updating from 3.8 to 4.0. The screen would keep turning off and than on when turning off the 7100t.
Just make sure you backup when the option asks. It will be the best friend you never hope to call upon (in case the load fails by desktop manager after clearing out your old software)

You must download the handheld device software from your carriers web site. Install that and you should be good to go.

There are two components - the Desktop Manager, which is common to all BlackBerrys, and a handheld component, which is specific to your device. The handheld component does not come on the shipped CD. You have to doanload and install it. Be aware that the downloaded version may be newer than the one on your device (highly likely) and may do an upgrade.

I had the 507 error on my 7250 and thank god I came here. what NJBlackBerry said was worked like a charm. I called RIM and Telus, both basically told me to send it in for repair. As the BB was off warranty and would have cost $150 to fix, I opted to fix it on my own. What a relief finding this site. You guys rock!!!!!!!

I have posted elsewhere, but will here as well due to this same subject keeps appearing in different threads. I am no newbie to upgrading OS or flashing or flexing and etc. to all kinds of devices. I have been successful with BB before, but this one is not cooperating. I just get the 507 when the attempt to connect to boot ROM. Wipe does not seem to work either because it seems to pick up where I left off when I retry loading the OS.....

I would unistall OS from PC, reboot, reinstall newest OS after redownloading in case your original file has an error in it, then I would use javaloader to wipe the unit. Finally restart the Desktop Manager, connect the BB and it should prompt you to load the OS again.

Well, since you have 5 posts, and all 5 are trying to say the same thing, here you go:
-Download the latest 7280 software from the Cingular web site. You want to download the Handheld OS software. http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-...downloads.html
- Execute the downloaded software
- Locate and delete VENDOR.XML on your C: drive
- Restart Desktop Manager with the BB connected to your PC
- The OS should now reload.

Welcome to BB Forums.
Search for "JL_CMDER" - it contains the Javaloader program which will wupe out the BB.

507, still -
05-19-2007, 09:35 PM
I bought a 7280 as an extra. It was on ATT and I use Cingular. Well I checked it and it worked ok. Then I put it away. A situation came up thatI needed it. It asked me for a password. I said to myself what? So I put in some # 10 x. Then when I wnt to load the program again, it asked me for a password. Huh? So again, 10x. Well then 507 showed up. I tried to load the software and 507 still was visible. I used JL commander to wipe and tried to reload again. Still 507. Ideas?
