Default VM for BB support - 03-18-2008, 12:04 PM

Has anyone been able to get around the issue of VMWare not supporting "hot-swappable" USB? What I mean by this is...

I had Ubuntu 7.10 as the sole OS on my laptop and was using an XP VM for all my BB Desktop Manager needs, but the VM would only see the USB while it was connected before the VM OS booted. If the USB was disconnected and then reconnected, VMWare would not see the BB device again. This also was the reason (at least from my experience) why I could never update the BB OS through a VM (even if VM supports USB hot-swap at some point, what's to say that it'll be able to access the BB ROM properly, right?)

Anyway, if anyone has any additional feedback on this it'd be appreciated. I'd like to go back to a sole Ubuntu installation cause Vista's background services crap causing the system to hang when all I'm doing is deleting a friggen file from the desktop is just downright retarded.

Thanks in advance,
Nedz
