The URL has lots of spaces that need to be edited to bring up the web page. Once there is looks interesting.

thank you for the link to this how-to, it's pretty cool.
however, being a non-pro with ubuntu, i ran into a problem at the following steps:

with ./buildgen.sh

at this step, i get the following error in terminal:
./buildgen.sh: 83: aclocal: not found

with ./configure --enable-gui

at this step, i get the following error in terminal:
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory

not sure why, i actually don't know what these commands mean ? ./ what does this tell terminal to do ?

You need to add "automake" to your system. I think you can do that by going into synaptic package manager.

Here's my problem people......hope someone can help:
Done everything and when I go to do this step "./buildgen.sh" I get this error: libtoolize: Consider adding `AC_CONFIG_MACRO_DIR([m4])' to configure.ac.

Now, I believe this has something to do with a "dirty macro" or something having to do with automake but I'm not that linux savvy yet.

Help me ObiWan!

What distro are you using? It would appear that for newbs and even intermediate users the current iteration of this deal is a "no go." It apparently requires a serious command of the command line interface (terminal). I found this final analysis on the Ubuntu community forums.

i'm using 8.10
i installed the item listed as "automake" within synaptic, but i still got errors at those commands....i found multiple "automake" entries in synaptic...

even more aggravating is that i cannot remove blackberry and barry directories from the src directory....

Yeah, like I posted above it would seem that for those of us still learning our way around Linux this app may not yet be ready for prime time. BTW, I'm using the same distro.....Ubuntu 8.10

any news on progress of Barry ?
i had a run in with 9.04, and wound up reinstalling 8.10 from scratch...
finally configured ubuntu the way i'd like. but before i install automake, which version is the latest, 1.4, 1.7, 1.9 ? version 1.7 shows up at the top, followed by 1.9....

Niklas

Any chance you would work on a debugger to talk to the Storm over bluetooth?

For Linux development, you could use your tools to build apps and load them onto the device, but no way to debug...

Or perhaps if you have more tips along those lines, add to your www page?

Thanks for the tools!
