Default PocketMac and the 8120? - 10-18-2007, 12:20 AM

Has anyone gotten PocketMac to sync with the 8120?

I can only guess that being a new device it isn't supported yet but that doesn't save me the frustration of trying. From the "About This Mac" info I can see the RIM Composite device connected over USB but PocketMac doesn't recognize anything? Any help would be much appreciated. As I'm sure you would agree, copying data from AddressBook to OutlookExpress under Parallels and syncing there is NOT a sustainable solution. Thanks for any help.

Default Contact sync 8120 - 10-24-2007, 12:49 PM

I am having the same issue. I have actually tried syncing it using the 'change devices' on a borrowed windows machine, as well as using PocketMac, and neither works. According to the log on Pocketmac it looks like the device is reading, but nothing ends up on the pearl.

[10:53:20.393] Begin synchronization
[10:53:20.395] Synchronizing contacts
[10:53:21.140] Made the connection
[10:53:24.962] PocketMac version 4.0
[10:53:31.494] Synchronizing Address Book with BlackBerry Contacts
[10:53:31.515] Reading data...
[10:53:47.842] Synchronizing Address Book with BlackBerry Contacts
[10:53:47.859] Comparing data...
[10:53:48.049] Synchronizing data...
[10:54:00.995] All finished.
[10:54:05.680] 1037 changes/new records.

That's the log, but no changes and no records. Strange, huh?

I've found that the beta of MissingSync worked in syncing my device. Mark/Space · Beta Versions Being Tested Good luck.

Alas, that didn't seem to work either. The strange thing is even with the verbose logging, it seems to have written to the device, yet the addresses don't appear in the address book.

All other ideas are welcome. If anyone wants to read the verbose log and see whether they can figure out why, I'm happy to take suggestions.

I am new to MAC but a veteran BlackBerry user. I've used every BB model for T-Mobile since the 6230 and ALL have been just fabulous when syncing with my PC. I had the 8100 Pearl when I first got my Mac and was absolutely blown away by the simplicity of POCKETMAC. Being the BlackBerry brat that I am, I purchased the 8120 upon its release date and for the first time since 2003, I am upset beyond belief.

My MAC sees the device but does nothing.

The PocketMac website says the 8120 will soon be supported. What does this 'soon' mean. Like most, it is imperative to consistently back up my information and sync my ical.

Does anyone know a release date for the new PocketMAC? I saw some responses on this forum by some PocketMAC employees who had some great insight.

Please throw some of that info this way so I can actually start utilizing my media on the 8120.

Thanks in advance.

I had the same frustration. Surely you've noted the satisfaction folks have here with missing sync over pocketmac. You may want to try it.

You cannot have enough backups but you can have too few.
Pearl 8120, OS v4.3.0.72; PB G4 867, OS 10.5.2, USB -- useless BT thx to RIM .

Arrow Solution - 06-11-2008, 08:32 PM

I've found a guide described at the following site very straight forward if anyone still needs help.

How To Sync Contacts From Your Macintosh To Your New Blackberry 8120 (pearl) - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

here is the url incase the link doesnt work ( just remove the "<" and the ">" )

<http://forums.crackberry.com/f79/how-sync-contacts-your-macintosh-your-new-blackberry-8120-pearl-31554/>

just UNINSTALL the whole program REBOOT the mac and START installing [b]each application at a time[b/] in order to evade any complications.

that is start with a fresh download of PocketMac from the BB site, REBOOT

then install the update also provided by the BB site, REBOOT

and after that install the update driver provided by the PocketMac site and REBOOT. YOUR DONE at this point.

Connect the 8120 before opening the PocketMac
