Since the blackberry is intended for use by professionals, then why would they not support Max OS-X? There is a massive amount of professionals, that will only use Macs, expecially people in the graphic/e-commerce sector..

RIM doesn't write the software that Desktop Manager uses for Intellisync. Pumatech writes them. Basically, RIM will support Mac when Pumatech decides to write the software for RIM.

Hmm, interesting, but money talks, I am sure that if RIM were to tell pumatech to write the software, it would be done shortly, there havent been any big updates or work done on the interllisync software anyways.. the basics are the same since OS 2.0, the only thing that has changed is the supported applications and the way the code is written on the handheld.

The folks at Epicad (www.epicad.com) are writing software to sync a b'berry to Mac OS X. It's called SyncAgain.

The BES version is already complete, with a stand alone version, for us none corporates, will be ready "soon".

A little off topic but related to the desktop synch software (non-BES)....today I do not get all of the calendar data from Outlook like invitees, etc. when I synch - I know that the BES users get more data on their handhelds regarding meetings - any chance this additional info might be accomodated in the desktop synch in the future?

I just bought a G5 and it should be arriving very soon. I'm really glad to see that some sync software has now been released for the Mac. Though it's too bad that it doesn't allow you to load apps. Maybe that will/could be an upcoming feature?

EPICAD is an over priced $140 US limited solution (from a CDN company none the less, shame on them for charging the locals US prices!) take a look at PocketMac sync for Blackberry very well done, feature rich and affordable $29.99 I use it myself. Most of the hold up till now with a Mac OS sync is that there's no real Intellisync communication feature/protocol within the Mac OS X Unix kernel unlike the PC but it seems others have done well addressing and finding a work around communication point.

Pocket Mac told me last week that future releases will offer software loading.

Can't wait that and hopefully BES re-director support will follow making for a great Mac OS solution.

When more consumer oriented devices appear these Mac solutions are going to be a big success, I just hope RIM Doesn't screw them over like Apple did to the companies that had Windows solutions for the ipod...

There is no translator available at this time to interpret PDF files on a Mac OS that I'm aware of, if the MAC BES (third party vendor) that was mentioned earlier has something similar to the Mobile Data Service (which is used by the BES to interpret and send attachments) then this may be a possibility.

For now you'll have to settle for the messed up format!

I have the BB 7230 and a 12" PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.3.9. When the computer goes to sleep after I run PocketMac and sync my BB to Entourage it won't wake up. I have to hold down the power key to force it to shutdown and then turn the computer back on. Has anyone else encoutnered this problem? Any fixes for it?

Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Acrobat Reader and MS Excel are all available for the Mac and have been so for some time!
