Default Another frustrated Mac user... - 03-16-2008, 07:58 PM

So I'm having a little trouble here syncing my Pearl with my Mac. When I plug in my Blackberry it doesn't appear anywhere on my computer, not in finder, not on the desktop, not in disc utility. I've done the regular stuff, take the battery out, restart the device and the computer. I've tried both Missing Sync and PocketMac with no improvement. Other further suggestions before I order a swap?

I am not a Mac users. Maybe a Mod can move this post to the Mac area and you will get some responses from Mac users.

Most likely computer. To have access to the Media Card on the BlackBerry make sure Enable Mass Storage is turned on Under Options > Media Card

Yeah? I can sync it fine using either of the programs and I can transfer files up to the restricted size via bluetooth but I can't get any music on because my device isn't recognized when I plug it in with my USB. Also my Macbook doesn't have a card reader so I'm outta luck there too...

I had to return 2 different BB's that were defective in terms of connecting via USB. The key is to check in Apple System Profiler and see if the BB shows up as a USB connection. If not you have a defective device.

That's not always the case. The bb won't mount on the desktop if it doesn't have a media card and the BB preferences for allowing the media card to be shared/mounted.

There are a number of features that require you to have properly formatted the media card for the BB, too. Without proper formatting, the phone won't mount (via USB) on the desktop.

My MacBook Pro shows my Blackberry Pearl 8130 in the system profiler but does not show up mounted anywhere? In system profiler "mount Point:" it says nothing? Can anyone help?

I put my media card in my 8310 and everything was fine. MissingSync also put music and photos on, no problems.

I believe you need either PocketMac or Missing Sync to be able to see it in finder. I think if you're not even going to sync anything that your comp needs one of those to get the proper drivers to read your phone. I could be talking out of my butt, but I've noticed the same problems if I plug it into a Mac without one of those 2 apps where I don't on mine.
