The Mac does not use the BB Desktop, you need to go to either Rim's web site or Google PocketMac and go to their site and download PocketMac. PocketMac is free and supported by RIM. I use the word support loosely. But in the event you have a problem with your BB and you call your carrier, the first question they will ask you is what application are you syncing with. Any answer other than PM gets you no support. Missing Sync will support their software, but if their is a problem with the BB, that is when you can run into problems with your carrier.

Their is also another application you can purchase called MissingSync. If you look at the forums, there are differing opinions on which program is better. I personally use PM, and have never had a problem. Is it as good as it could be, no, but it does work.

Another option if you have an Intel Mac is to boot into Windows, if you have that ability. There you can install the BB desktop and work from windows. Keep in mind if you do this you will have to manage everything from Outlook.

I have heard you can, the install is very limited. I always try to do an OTA (over the air) download. The only time I have ever had to use a computer to load a program is when I updated my OS. Then I had to go to a Windows machine, otherwise everything has been an OTA download.

You can't download anything OTA (over-the-air).
You mentioned in your other thread that you only have an Email and IM data plan.
You'd need a full data plan to download things wirelessly.
