Exclamation Can't receive or transfer files between 8100 and macbook - 04-24-2008, 09:06 PM

Ok... My boyfriend gave me his 8100 He had no problems transferring files between it and his macbook ( and i just so happen to have it too lol) now, when I try to send/receive files between the two, both devices say "Does not have necessary services". What could be the cause of this?

Thank you for your help!

I have an 8830 and an iBook G4 and I get the same error message.

I;ll keep my ear to the ground, and if I find something out, I'll get back to you

have u paired the two devices? this stumbled me for a while but after your blackberry prompts you for a code enter "0000" you'll be set to go.

File exchange is a little tricky but if you have a micro sd card in the phone you can use the phone like a usb thumb drive using the usb cable. That way you can drag and drop files at will. The MAC OS X will allow you to use bluetooth to "explore" a bluetooth device but i haven't been able to do this with a blackberry just a nokia.

If you have OS X Leopard i would recommend using Bootcamp to install windows and use the blackberry software suite to do file exchange. The software available for macintosh only allows you to sync the address book, icalendar and other stuff. you have to pay for other software to sync itunes but you can just bluetooth pictures and music it to the blackberry or use the windows software.

bluetoothing will require you to manually select "recieve using bluetooth" to transfer the files after you pair the two.

hope that helps get you started.

Mine are paired, and I can BT pictures without a problem. when I start the transfer, the only folder option I am given in my music media is 'preloaded ringtones.' i can't seem to scroll to any other folders to save my music. So, I try to save it there, and the BB spouts out "transfer denied, 100%." Huh?

to save music you have to have a micro sd card...i got the same error. but if your trying to do ringtones, you can go around that. i think the error has something to do with file size even though the internal memory is 65 mb it just wont do it unless you have a memory card.

if you create your own ring tone it won't be the size of a normal mp3 song so it will transfer but you'll need a memory card to save normal songs.
