Has anyone any positive or negative experiences with apple's wireless compact router: the airport express (not the larger base station) and UMA connections?

I'll be traveling overseas next month, and some of the hotels don't have wifi in rooms but do have hardwire connections. I was thinking of connecting airport express to create wifi and then try hotspot@home/UMA for free calls to stateside numbers, using my BB 8820.

I would suggest using ygr Linksys travel router. I have heard many reports of problems with the AirPort and UMA.

I have not had any issues using UMA with my Airport Express or Airport Extreme (both new and old versions). The only challenge I had was when i upgraded my network to use WPA from WEP. It took a bit of resetting old passwords but it works great in the end. I've taken my Express traveling with me to Europe and have never had an issue.

Which model do you currently use: old, original b version, or g version or latest n model? I'm tracking a couple of b and g models on eBay. Thanks

I have a relatively new AirPort Extreme, and I am very happy with it both for my home network and for UMA. It definitely beats the two prior Linksys routers I had.
