Default pearl or curve and mac? lots of questions (did a search too) - 06-22-2008, 11:11 AM

hi there,
i am new to the world of blackberry and i just got a pearl. i have a macbook and was wondering between the pearl or the curve which one is referred with mac and why?

i like the convenient size of the pearl esp to use it as a phone so i would like to keep with it, but i do also like things to be as trouble free as possible.

i am having some issues though that the phone keeps restarting when i sync to the mac and trying to do something with the photos on my blackberry.

also, am having issues getting some way to get my msn and aim contacts set up for chat. i was going to try jive talk but can't figure out how to install. should i set up some kind of pc sync thing on parallels?

and not mac specific, but does anyone know if there will be software out to where we can edit things like documents on this handheld? i can receive and view attachments, but not edit.

thanks and sorry if i asked way too much (i have been reading this forum)

Both the Curve or the Pearl work the same on the Mac, no advantage or disadvantage from either. Purely a personal preference based on the keyboard and size for you.

JiveTalk -- download from your BB browser at Beejive : instant messaging, just about anywhere, called an OTA download, OverTheAir.

When OS 4.5 appears for your model 8130 or 8330, you will have DocumentsToGo, with free limited editing abilities and with Premium services, additional capabilities.

Can you be more specific on the restarting... what sync are you using , PocketMac or MissingSync?

oh sorry. i am on pocketmac.

but what i am doing is opening up finder and trying to move the pics from the bb to the mac and then it just crashes ... says i am not supposed to remove device etc. but i haven't done anything.

now i dragged (drug? whatever) some media files from my music on my mac to the music folder on the bb with no problem. but the pictures are different. i need to look and see if they are images i took with the bb camera or that were on my sd card.

and as to jivetalk? duh. i'll download it to my blackberry see how it works ... i keep thinking i have to do things on my computer and then transfer to my handheld.

okay, traded the pearl for the curve and had issues with the pocketmac working with the curve (not a problem with the pearl). spent about an hour uninstalling the pocketmac, then reinstalling it and updating the driver patch, then removing the extensions then reinstalling the patch.

now my blackberry curve is working smoooooooothly with my beloved mac (i do love all things mac, but i love this blackberry too ;) )

life is good when your stuff is synching.

Pearl is terrible on a Mac that is if you have one from Verizon.

Probably nothing. It's an push service designed for the iphone. It would be nice if it was made available to BB, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
