Default Blackberry Bold and VMWare

Please Login to Remove!

I am running VMWare Fusion 2.0 on my Macbook Pro laptop. I am running Windows XP to use desktop manager. I had a blackberry curve and had no problem connecting to desktop manager. This weekend I got a bold and desktop manager does not recognize it so I can't sync/backup. As soon as I hook up my curve, desktop manager recognizes it and I can backup/sync and do anything else in desktop manager. Does anyone have any solutions to get Fusion to recognize my Bold? I was on with RIMM technical support and they were no help. They said it was a VMWare problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't have a regular PC to use. I borrowed a friend's PC for a few minutes to download my backup file from my curve and connected my new Bold to that to get all my contacts, etc on my Bold but want to be able to use my Mac at home whenever I want. Thanks

Did you install the Bold OS software (not desktop manager)? I had the same problem you are describing until I installed the Bold OS software. Try it and report back.

No I did not. Thank you for suggesting that. I will try it tonight when I get home and let you know how it works out. I am assuming the Bold software is on the disk that came with my Bold? Surprised that RIMM did not recommend that when I was on the phone with them. Thank you again.

Go to Rim's web site. You can find the downloads there. Here is a link to AT&T Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4
Just find the Bold OS software, download it, and run the installer.

Knocka, thanks for your help. I was out of town and just got back. I am still having trouble and was wondering if you could help me step by step as I am not that technically saavy. I tried what you mentioned and could not get it to work. I went to the at&t link above and under the PTT EMR patch heading I clicked on Blackberry Bold 9000 smartphone and downloaded the multilanguage version of the software. What do I do next? I opened up desktop manager and connected my phone and tried opening the loader program but it wants me to connect my phone first. VMWare isn't recognizing my phone so I cannot connect it. If you could tell me exactly how to fix this I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

You have to install the software you downloaded from the website. After you install it, run Desktop Manager and connect your BB. BTW, I do not know what you mean by "under the PTT EMR Patch."
