Default Sollution for Installing Apps using Mac OS X - 11-09-2005, 12:58 PM

Hello everyone, I have a Mac. This has caused problems when trying to install applications into my Blackberry 7290 that don't have an OTA option. I have had a look around and I cannot see any easy way of doing it other then using OTU installation.

So to solve this I have created a simple script to take a COD file, add a JAD file, and place it on my server and send an email to me blackberry containing a link to the JAD file.

Have a go, I hope it is of some use to the people out there:

Blackberry OTA Installer

NOTE: this is beta software, use at your own risk. I think that it will only work with V4 software (something to do with COD files in COD files).

Thanks to jibi for the information on how to setup Apache for OTA and everyone else on the Forum that has added little bits of information on how to do OTA.

I may of missed something completely, so I would be interested to know is there is an easier way of doing this, also I am sure someone else as done this before.

One minor problem at the moment, The application name and version is hardcoded, this will cause a problem when trying to uninstall and upgrade

This is a good start. One thing you need to be aware of is that if the .cod file is larger than roughly 105K you can't do a wireless install.
