It's not designed to work that way. The Mac Desktop Manager is supposed to check to see if your carrier has an update available, download it, and install it.

Folks have supposedly found a way to use it like the Windows client, but it's not so straight forward. If you're really willing to risk bricking your BlackBerry, you might find something about this process over at CrackBerry.com's forums.

It's *supposed* to reload the most current version of the handheld software released by your carrier. My first attempt to use Mac Desktop Manager for BlackBerry to update my Tour's OS was a disaster, bricking my Tour and forcing me to undertake a 36-hour odyssey to fix it with the Windows clients. I used JL_Commander, Desktop Manager 5.0 for Windows, and the AppLoader via the command line.

For syncing contacts/tasks/addresses/notes the Mac software works fine. I still don't trust it to do an OS update though.

Bad form to hijack another's thread.

And there is no need to double and triple post. That is also considered to be bad forum etiquette.

Your question has been answered in the Mac Users section.
