SUCCESS! Updated OS from MAC alone After bricking my first 9700 the 2nd day I had it I spent untold hours on the line with Parallels. They KNOW there are problems with USB ports and blackberrys. Last night I finally risked the OS load using DM for MAC. It was a little scary at times. It left the device without icons, just a list of apps. BUT I loaded .405 and it WORKED!!! Mostly I wanted to cure the idiotic sms/address bug. Not sure yet. I thought battery life with .330 was awesome compared to 9000. I'm THRILLED to finally be able to update without Parallels/Windows. Nice! Thanks for the update. |
Ok. So it is the next day. Rebooted during the night but the default OS was doing that so I attribute it to something 3rd party. BUT, the battery life is great and the SMS bug is gone!! |
This is GREAT news! When the Mac Desktop Manager was originally released (I never messed around with the beta client) I tried updating the OS on my Tour and it screwed up royally. I spend many hours on a pc to restore it with JL_Commander, JavaLoader, and the Windows version of Desktop Manager. Not fun. The Mac client has been terrific for everything else so this failure was a complete shock to me. Maybe I'll try it again when the next significant update comes out.Tour |
I have been trying to go to .415 all day. Brick after brick. MANY things tried. I have a strange feeling that the DM update to 1.0.2 BREAKS the ability to add OS's. Does anyone have a copy of mac dm 1.0.1??? I need to test it. |
