Question PocketMac and Intel iMacs - 04-04-2006, 04:15 PM

Has anyone figured out how to successfully synch the 8700 (or any other BB) to an Intel iMac? I know it says on their website that they are "working on it," but it also says:
Quote:
Bluetooth Users:

Good News! If you have Bluetooth available on your device, you can connect and sync successfully NOW!

PocketMac Pro

PocketMac Lite

PocketMac Phone
Well, I have bluetooth on both my BB and my Mac, yet I can't get this to work. Any thoughts?

PocketMac doesn't support Intel Macs or BT yet for that matter. USB sync only.

As our engineers work an a workaround, we will be releasing updates starting very shortly to accommodate this new change in the Intel Duo machines.

Welcome to my only issue with my Intel iMac. I can't WAIT for this to get fixed as it's driving me nuts.

Apple just announced a download for "Boot Camp" which will allow you to run Windows XP on Intel iMacs.

I suppose you're right, finch -- since I can't get it to work -- but if that's the case they really need to redo the copy on the website. It talks about the delay in getting it to work with Intel machines, then -- in the very next sentence -- says that "If you have Bluetooth available on your device, you can connect and sync successfully NOW!" If those two things don't go together, they need to figure out a way to let people know. It sounds a lot to me like they're saying "this doesn't work. But if you have bluetooth, you can do it NOW!" Otherwise, I don't get the NOW! part.

Oh well, hopefully they'll get it together pretty soon.

Because the KIA engine is what 90% of the america uses I worked for apple for a while and let me tell you I LOVE Apples, but now that Boot Camp is out I'm getting an Intel and dual booting, Apple OS and it's programs just CAN'T do somethings and the microsoft software written for Apples BLOWS goats.
So Dual boot and just update your BB off the "KIa" engine

I'm not holding my breath. I sent their support an email asking about syching my 7520 with Bluetooth. I got a email back from "Mark@pocketmac.com" with detailed instructions on how to fix the USB issued with my mac and my PocketPC device. It referred several times to Pocketmac Pro 3.0.

I sent him:
"Um, This is for the blackberry 7520 and my intel iMac?"

And he replied with:

"Not sure of the capabilities of all BlackBerrys...but, if you have Bluetooth
capability this should work for you..."

So like I said, I'm not holding out much hope. And thanks, but no, I don't want to install XP on my iMac.

This is a gray area to place blame, however the Intel mac has been out for how long now? RIM and Information Appliance Associates must act quickly. Many Mac people bought into the Blackberry because there was sync software.

To some no sync means no BB.

I agree wholeheartedly, I'm pissed RIM just licensed a copy of pocketmac and can't just MAKE THEIR STUFF SyncML or iSync compatible?!?!?!! Geeeze guys, is it THAT HARD to use that whole "standards" thing? :(

IAA's "very shortly" Does that mean nothing for 4 months?

I too will now buy based on devices using standard technology like syncML and iSync. Standards are a good thing.
