Default Got PocketMac Working on Intel - 04-29-2006, 01:15 PM

All,

I'm a pro video editor, and I have a MacBook Pro 1.83 and i just got a 8700c. I downloaded 3.13 - and it did not work at all at first. the app just grinded and spun - and when it was done, nothing at all had happened.

i sent in an email to the PM guys, and here's what they told me

____________
If you use BES BlackBerry Enterprise Wireless server in the office, please turn it off on the BlackBerry when syncing with the Mac. Generally, to turn off wireless synchronization, you get into the specific application (Address Book, Calendar, Tasks, or Memos), then click on the wheel and choose "Options", then scroll to the "Wireless Synchronization" option, and set that to "No" to turn it off and "Yes" to turn it back on. You then have to "Save" the setting.

Please download and run this cleaning program to clean out the sync history from both ~/Library/Application Support/PocketMac (Panther and Tiger) and ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices (Tiger) and start fresh:
www . pocketmac . net / public / SyncClean . zip
peverything to a "first sync" state, which may help clear up any stale data that's in the way here.

Please restart your Mac after using SyncClean (to avoid "Merging local records with device" error). When syncing, if the Sync Services debug window comes up, you must click ALLOW. DO NOT check the box to delete data.

You may also download the following utility that will help you purge data from your BlackBerry. WARNING: This will delete ALL Calendars, ALL Contacts, ALL Notes, or ALL Tasks from your BlackBerry.
www . pocketmac . net / public / DataPurgeUI . zip
If you run DataPurge, run SyncClean as well.
___________

I do not use BES, and i turned all that wireless sync stuff on anticipating i could use Bluetooth - so once i turned it off, i then ran the first app - the SyncClean.zip application.

After that, i ran the PocketMac 3.13 application - and it works totally fine.

I cannot get iSync to work with it, and for some reason, when i restart, i don't get the MenuBar icon any more.

But it works. I know that the bugs will be worked out eventually.

three cheers to the PocketMac nerds.

Do you know if PM works with the 7130c with bluetooth? In PM what bluetooth do you set it to in the Serial setting?

If you read carefully it says Blue tooth is available for:
PocketMac Pro
PocketMac Lite
PocketMac Phone

NOT PocketMac for Blackberry

You actually gave PM a pat on the back for all that flaky, convoluted and disjointed work-around? Gee, you’re really are a good sport!

Question, if you're not on a BES, you shouldn't even see the wireless sync options, right? I don't see those options and my BB often crashes when I try to connect it to my MacBook Pro.

Default I've searched, and now im more confused. - 09-14-2006, 12:56 AM

Can I use the current version of PocketMac on my G5 to sync to my new 8100?

I read a bunch of post and I don't understand if I can or not. People seem to be focusing on Blutooth. I'm not trying to do it via blutooth. I would hook it up to my G5 via usb cable.

In brief, has anyone been able to get their Mac address book contacts on to their 8100? If so can you post step by step how to do it? kudos to gsfprez above for posting such a great step by step. But that's only for an intel mac, right?

Am I screwed with out an Intel mac? Any specific help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I didn't search correctly.

If you can post the exact link to a previous thread great. I really need to be able to get my mac addressbooks cards on to the pearl or she goes back to tmob. I'm liking this phone but not willing to hand enter 500 contacts.
