I had a Treo 650 before and now I am facing the problem: HOW ON EARTH WILL I GET THOSE 500 #'s onto my BB 8700???

Exoprt your address book file as a vcard and import that file into your address book app or entourage. The import is not perfect, so you may have to take a couple of hours and go through each card and make the necessary changes. I had to do this when I switched from my Palm to BB.

Yahoo has an intellisync conduit which allows you to sync between a palm device and yahoo and outlook. I've used it in the past. I don't remember any problems. Try Yahoo! Help - Intellisync for details and links for a download. Of course, you will need Outlook to make this work.
