Default PocketMac:Problem syncing ToDos in iCal => Tasks on Blackberry - 10-03-2006, 12:48 PM

I'm getting a problem syncing T0-Dos in iCal (Address Book + Calendar seem to be working fine, though).

On the Blackberry, it seems to be listing out all of my Calendar Appointments as Tasks in list form (and totally neglecting what I have in iCal under To-Dos)

Is anyone else having this experience? Did I set something up wrong?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

When I did my first sync it trashed my calendar, but it got the tasks sync'd between the two. It even synchronized long-dead and completed tasks from my Mac to the Pearl.

But since my calendar synching was hosed I decided to try again from scratch to see if I could get a decent sync. After restoring my calendars from backups I tried using the DataPurge technique described in the manual to clear all of the data in the blackberry and reset my sync status to brand new. I also checked the "don't synchronize events older than 30 days" in both the calendar and tasks advanced options.

I then sync'd again (with all set to "override device") and the calendar entries went to the blackberry except that some are off by an hour, but others are the correct hour (must be a daylight savings inconsistency bug) and also some of my events didn't make it - which could be due to those events having lots of exceptions where I deleted instances of them.

And, more importantly, now I'm seeing the same problem described in this thread - my tasks consists of a bunch of appointments. Grrrr...

The 2 main differences from before are that I have the "older than" checkboxes checked and also that I have no active tasks right now (the tasks before were all older than 30 days - way older - and I had 2 tasks on the blackberry which weren't that important so I didn't recreate them after emptying the blackberry - thus neither computer nor blackberry had any tasks to sync).

The Beta Testers must have been a bunch of MySpace teenieboppers who never actually use their blackberry.

As for me, I still can't even get PM4 to see my damnable Pearl.

I've neveer used a Bberry before this one. Is RIM the kind of company that will be quick to release a patch?

This software wasn't written by RIM. It was written by some SEI Level Negative One shop called Information Appliance Associates. It has just recently been distributed by RIM due to their lack of Mac support.

So, it's a sad sad day for BB mac users when we have the best computers and the best handhelds, yet we can't make them talk.

Whew. I thought I was the only one suffering from this.

There must be some way to filter out all those new "tasks" which are really just appointments. Like, perhaps, making them default to a certain category which you then filter out??

Ugh, it's annoying.

How about this -- is there a third-party TODO List program I can use instead of the "tasks" BB application?
