Default JVM Error 102 Reset. - 02-17-2007, 02:49 PM

I have just bought a new Blackberry Pearl 8100 which is currently locked to Vodafone U.K. I plan to sync. it with my Apple Intel 24" iMac and I have already downloaded PocketMac SyncManager.

I also plan to unlock it for use on any mobile network and I have the unlock code to enter.

Problem is that, despite having put a SIM card in and charged the battery, all I've got is a grey screen stating "JVM Error 102 Reset" so consequently I can't unlock or use the 'phone.

Any ideas anybody?

(I have also put this thread on under the Blackberry 8100 General Forum but maybe this Mac-specific one is better.)

Didnt like my answer in the other thread that you need a PC to load software?

You have the answer, you just need a PC. Or a way to run windows software on your Mac.

It's not that I don't appreciate your answer, I simply can't believe that a Mac user has to find a PC to put his 'phone right, especially now that Blackberry are giving away PocketMac free on their website.

In any case, the 'phone exhibited this fault new out of the box. Supposing I didn't have a computer at all? How would I fix it then?

My point is that surely this error SHOULD be able to be fixed from the device itself without involving the use of a PC.

I gave you the answer right direct RIM's website. If it's new/out of the box I suggest you return it and get a replacement. It should not come like that "out of the box."

PocketMac will allow you to sync with your Mac but it will not load apps and upgrade OS.

You need to follow the instructions from the RIM article I posted. Or use JL_Cmder to wipe it and reload. Unfortunatly, that requires a PC. If you can run a PC environment on your Mac then you can do it. If not, you need a PC. End of story.

Search the Mac Forums and you'll find that I'm not making this up. You need PC to load the OS.
