Default Interesting Calendar Issues with BB 8830

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,
I just got an 8830 from Verizon last week, and have stubled across what I believe to be an interesting question. I have attempted a search, but my browsers (camino, firefox, and safari) all refuse to show the image code that you must enter to performa a search... so please forgive me if I am repeating a thread from earlier,a nd kindly redirect me to the thread... On to the issue:

My 8830 is great... but I have come across an issue with the calendar.

Somehow when syncing the BB with my Mac, my calendar god all screwed up... duplicate appointments, deleted appointments, appointments in the wrong places... you name it... it happened...

I restored my iCal calendars from a backup and the attempted to overwrite the BB with the known good iCal data.

The sync seems to go down without a hitch, but the BB is not overwritten.... and here is the freaky part.

In the BB calendar I see appointments. If I tap te meny key, and select Options, scroll to the bottom of the screen and look at the field titled "Number of Entries" I see the number 0... Usually this is somewhere around 2,000 entires... but now it says 0 entires... yet I can see entires in the calendar... on today's date even.

I have tired using the DataPurgeUI.app tool that comes packaged with PocketMac 4 to no avail.

Has anybody else had similar issues?

What can I do short of wiping the entire device?

Thanks for you help

Verizon 8830 v. 4.2.2.66

Check out my post here

There are two BB KB articles that "sort of" cover the issue.

Bottom line, there are two problems with CICAL service books, calendar alerts and the 8830. RIM lists both issues as "ongoing and forwarded to our engineering department." I'm hoping they release a fix soon.

You can try re-sending your service books and then deleting all but one of the CICAL service books, try to sync and check to see if you are still getting your calendar alerts.

(oh yea, do yourself a huge favor and get missing sync for blackberry - well worth the price of admission.)

Default Still having issues

I deleted my CICAL Service Book, used my PS at work to delete the internal calendar DB, resent the service book, and then tried to resync the calendar from my Mac.

Here is a copy of the log before it stops doing anything for nearly 40 minutes... and I hit cancel

Default Resignation

After much work on this... I believe that I can not get it working without some intervention on RIM or Verizon's part. As neither seems willing to help, I suppose I will return my device tomorrow and go back to my 7250... That at least works.

There is an OS update that *should* fix this. Check the sticky in the 8800 forum for the Latest OS from Bell Mobility (should work with Verizon and should include the fix.)
