Default Best Place for DRM-Free MP3s? - 11-29-2007, 08:43 PM

I've been buying through iTunes, but would like to buy DRM-free MP3s that I can also use on my 8310. Which sites do you like for legal downloads? Thanks....Jeff.

I love the selection of iTunes so I purchased a product called Protected Music Converter. It works great and totally legal if you don't share.

Protected Music Converter - convert DRM protected music (WMA, M4P, etc.)

Cool. Do you notice any sound degradation with the conversion process? And to be sure I'm clear, this will take iTunes' DRM AAC files and "convert" them to unprotected mp3s for use on my BB, or any other device?

(Since it's just me and there will be just one copy in use at any time, I consider this for my private use, and legal....)

Are there any other safe options like this out there?

There is no sound degradation. You can convert music from 32 kbps to 320 kbps so it gives you many options. It will output to MP3, WMA, Ogg-Vorbis, and WAV. I would recommend download a trial. Downside of the trial is that it will only convert one song at a time and ask you to purchase between songs. Once purchased, it will convert 5 songs at a time and not ask you to purchase.

You are correct...it will take DRM AAC files and convert to your choice of 4 file types.

I use the MP3 format and listen on my BB and in my car.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

AMAZON.COM is DRM free, cheaper than iTunes and a higher bitrate all at 89 cents per song. They just launched their service a month or so ago.

True but their selection doesn't even come close to iTunes.

I like emusic.com but it doesn't have any major label music - just indie labels.
