Aero Theme -
12-02-2007, 05:27 PM
I haven't seen any posts related to this so....
This has to be THE BEST theme I have seen out there! I have stuck with the standard Zen theme since I got my 8830, but I just downloaded this today. Check it out!

I really like the look of it, but I just can't bring myself to spend money for a theme.
I understand why they want to charge, and I don't dispute that at all. I just can't let myself pay for it.

I'm far from what anybody would call cheap. It isn't that I think it is overpriced or that I can't spend the money or am too too cheap to, it is just that I can't see a personal justification for spending money on something that won't increase my productivity or enjoyment of my device.
I like it, I understand it, I think it is reasonable, I just can't make myself pay for a theme. To each their own...

Ive got the theme builder installed... does anyone know how to change the structure (right now im stuck to Zen/Today/Icon) or does it involve a lot of programming?
I dont have it figured out but I keep moving toward the promise God made in Jesus. Im reaching for what Ive seen; an invitation to make life worth it.

If you state the bugs, and they are actually bugs, I'm more than happy to address them. Everything I've been given so far though has been "I would like this" which is usually either not possible or there's nowhere to put it.

Bug With the Browser:
the # of messages is cutoff at the bottom and i dont know if this is just the way the themes work, but the signal level and network are not aligned with the other icons?

is it possible to float the date somewhere? i'm not familiar with BB theme programming so i don't know what the limitations are... if you could sneak the date in there somewhere, i'd definitely consider buying.

The application loader is made by RIM. It doesn't work with other browsers because it is an ActiveX control which are only for internet explorer. No other browser can have access to a USB device.
If you're having issues with downloading, please contact me directly. I can't, and won't solve them on here.

There's no room in the bar and I don't want to make a theme with a random orphaned item floating around.

Seriously though, this is just because the high number is overflowing the region. Not much I can do other than tell you not to have so many messages unread.

I bought my first theme yesterday. Never though I would. But for 7 bucks I though I'd give it a shot. After all, I buy shareware for more money and don't always use those programs for very long. And when you think about it, the theme you use is your window into your Blackberry. Your theme determines a lot about how you organize your device and get alerts. A good theme can make using your device easier. Less steps to find your messages (BB Messenger, SMS, email, voice mail) and access them.

This theme is EVER going to become free? I can't pay for a theme, I just can't do it. I don't mind paying a fortune for my house and my car. I don't mind paying big bucks for my blackberry and my cell phone. But I gotta draw the line. That's just me though.
Also, I freakin' love the new bottom windows like look on this theme. Are there others like it that are free.
Thanks guys.

For everyone who doesn't like the idea of pay themes, it's simple: Don't buy them.
I never thought I'd pay for a theme, but the Aero theme looked too interesting. $7 is a couple of lattes at Starbucks, peanuts when you think about it rationally. So I took a flier and ponied up the dough. The difference between paid themes and free ones is huge. "Free" isn't a bargain if it sucks. In fact, I liked the Aero theme so much I bought the Tiger one too.

Yup. The Areo theme especially has a very polished look, definitely deserving of a little compensation. It's the attention to details.

Can the Aero theme still be purchased? If so, where? I can't seem to find it anywhere, BBeXtras says themes are no longer available.

Was there a VoiceMail indicator in this theme? I bought it from BBExtras in DEC and am frustrated that I often only remember that I have VM's when in another application (e.g. Browser) that has the VM icon in it. Was this updated to include the VM icon in Aero? If so, is there any way to get that update now that BBExtras doesnt sell it but Bplay does?

So the theme purposely puts the message icon with a count over the apple icon and carrier name? Seems like a poor design to me, especially when there's so much whitespace to the right there.
