Smile OTA Setup - 12-28-2007, 12:25 PM

With all the requests I am getting for OTA downloads, I want to set up my
server to be able to OTA. I have looked in the FAQ section but can not find
the answer to my question....How do I set up my server to do OTA?
Thank you very much,
Gary

Depends on what your web server is.
If it's apache, adding this to the conf or a .htaccess file should do the trick
addtype text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor jad

If it's windows, find a new host

Looks like hostgator. Looks like apache. Looks like .htaccess file is the way to go.

Create a file in your root folder named .htaccess and in it put the line above.
It's possible though that they will not allow it, so you may wish to check with them.

There is already a .htaccess file in the root (public_html) folder, and what do you mean by
'put the line above'?

I am sorry for acting stupid, I just want to make it easier for ppl to download my themes.

Am I right? I don't put it in the .htaccess file in the public_html folder but the
folder before that?

it has to either be in the root document directory (public_html) or the directory where the jad file is.

OR...

If you don't want to mess with the server stuff...you can host OTA themes on my website. I have a few other theme designers hosting their themes there as well. The more the merrier!

Steve
