Default BBeXtras - Umm...? - 01-17-2008, 09:15 PM

What happened? I was just on the site and *bam* everything disappeared and now nothing works. Wallpapers abound on the main site, but all references to 'Themes' have disappeared completely. I know it was debated and rumored when the L Dimension and other themes started surfacing that there was a violation of NDA, etc., but nothing really ever came of that aside from the BBeXtras claiming they had modified Theme Builder's output (admittedly, I didn't keep up with the fiasco after that point, so perhaps something more came out of that). Anyhow, did this end up being an actual infringement on RIM's intellectual property? Looks like they stopped selling a few hours ago and now have removed all references to themes just now. Seems odd.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

I bought 2 themes from there and loved them. Wish the site allowed for Desktop Manager install and I would still have the files now in case, my BB needs wiping and I can reload. Anyway to "backup" these themes so I can reload?

Javaloader works very well with extracting/loading .cod files from and to your devices.

As with anything you purchase, you should turn to the seller. His site is not down, just the themes. Only he can say directly to you whether he can make good on your matter.

That is a bummer. When the themes first came out, I wasn't too keen on the price but they were really well designed and I ended up buying the winter one.

Sad to see them gone... I bought the Leopard one and might have bought one or two more.

peter, i think for those who have purchased themes that we have no access to anymore, a statement as to what has happened to the themes would be much appreciated.

Now I wish that I bought every 8100 compatible theme on the site. I was planning on spreading out the purchases. So much for procrastination.

I bought every theme, but one. You tried to pull a fast one and got caught...
Man up and refund the cash or email the dm version.

He is probably not allowed to say why... He could be in litigation at this point. From what I hear it is a very big deal. His themes are also going to be pulled from bplay and magmic.

I think we can put 2 and 2 togeither. There is no way outside of RIM a person can produce such a unique theme like windesktop. For those who say that windesktop is garbage or never used it. The theme is fully functioning with features that are out of thin air. I honestly believe we have been given a taste of what blackberries could be like in a few years.

All I have is a request which I have complied with. I don't agree with the reasons, but as I said who am I to fight?

Everything that was was on BPlay is still there for now, that has been their decision. EDIT: Not anymore

Sorry to hear about this, Peter. I couldn't purchase and download your themes, as my company's BES administrators have put the clamps on 3rd party downloads, but I did visit the site and admired your work.
