Default NEW Themes for 7200 and 7500 Series - 07-04-2005, 03:36 PM

I have the the files with an ALX for installation through Desktop Manager. There are two included:

1. Orange (net_rim_theme_119.cod)
2. Vodaphone (net_rim_theme_120.cod)

The "Orange" theme is a lot like the 7100 series layout. It looks great with the 7250.

The file size is 500K, too big to post here in this forum. Anyone have a hosting spot to upload this so we all can indulge? Please e-mail or PM me with upload location.

Let us know which one you like the best. Enjoy!!!

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it is very awesome, I am using the vodaphone one right now, but will try the orange after I do a backup.

Thanks jnelson2000, you are the best man.

EDIT: I like the vodaphone better, either way all good man.

It works on my 7290. It seems very strange having to drop down a level to find some of the program icons.

I hope someone converts the 7100 O2 theme over to this format. For my money, that's the coolest looking of the 7100 themes.

They both work fine on the Verizon 7250. The orange one is a little dark, but overall I think I like it better than the vodaphone one. Although the vodaphone has better icons, the orange theme is a little cleaner. The only problem I see so far is that they are a little slower than the default theme. Anyone else notice that? Either way, good work. I would love to see more themes in the future.

That's cool, I can't wait for more to come out. I would like one with words as opposed to icons so it will save space.

From your computer, download the zip file listed in the fourth message. Unzip the file. Then install it as you would install a regular Blackberry application.

jnelson, I just added a new method for themes installations for the 7100 series handheld. Thanks for the tip on this. I had been trying to figure out what in the hell those new theme files were, and although they are nothing new for the 7100 series, it is a new naming scheme for them (using vendor IDs rather than vendor names) and they are now included within the OS download - very nice!

For those who want to read, I'm sure this can be applied to the other model handhelds, as well (atleast the 7290, for now) with a little alteration:

Can't we download the other carriers' handheld code (i.e. O2, 7100t, 7100g, etc.) and copy the theme files from them?

I like the orange theme but will not use it because I want all my icons on one (main) screen. I do not want to jump around the theme... Vodafone... Wow them are some huge icons.... Lololol... Went back to the default theme on 7290 just because I want all icons on one screen...

O2, T-Mobile, etc themes will only work on the 7100 series handhelds. The 72xx/77xx Small Icons (default 7xxx theme) theme is the only theme that is known to work on both the larger handhelds and the consumer-based 7100 handhelds, although there are things about it that obviously do not work with the 7100 (calculator, for example).

The Orange theme does not work on the 7100 series handheld (just tested). It installs, but only gives an option of "Close" when trying to activate it.

Tried it on 7250, both load and both work. Vodaphone is huge, Orange I dont like the way the icons are not all on the same page besides a lot of my icons were not displaying because they are not available in the theme so it is a bit of a pain having to go find the apps. Went to change back and the default was gone and had to restore.Otherwise they were nice and a welcomed addition for those who need or want them.

Has anyone using the Vodafone theme figured out where the Compose icon has gone? I can't find it with the root-level icons or inside the Applications folder. Are you supposed to click the Messages icon and then press "c" (a shortcut for selecting Compose Email from the menus)?

Yeah, both work. The vodafone looks better to me, I need to get used to where everything is. Not real sure if I like them right now but it's different from everyone else. I'd like to know how to make my own!

AFAIK you cannot create themes with this, only j2me midlets and bb-apps...

"C" is "Contacts" in the voda firmware/theme.

They re-arranged some things. I prefer to select a Compose from the Contacts application because then I can pick if it is an SMS, Email or Call.

Ok, noob here. I downloaded the themes and used desktop manager (application loader) to install them. They are apparently there, but I don't know how I select them. ??

Edit: Never mind, I found it. Feeling stupid now...
