Recorded Media Center TV to My Pearl
 

Hi Everyone, I have been a lurker here for a couple weeks and now have a question? I have used the search function and have not found what I am looking for.

I have recorded a TV Program (PGA TOUR GOLF) on my computer using Windows Media Center, however I have not found a video converter that will recognize the file so that I can convert it to a MP4 or 3GP. Does anyone know if this is possible?

To recap I want to be able to record a TV show then convert it to a 3GP or MP4 so I can view it on my Pearl. I have Ulta Mobile Video Converter V3.9 & Blackberry Video Converter. Any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED.

the Roxio Media Manager should convert it for you. should just be drag and drop. The pearl has alot more that it can play than 3gp or mp4.

one thing i have noticed about roxio is that yes it will convert it for you, but as time goes on in the video the audio and video start to part... its doesnt stayed sync... i have yet to have an issue like that using he blackberry video converter...

When I do this with converions it says the file can not be copied, when I do it without conversion the file shows up like its on the media card but can not be seen when using the blackberry and will not play in the the Desktop Manager.

I am thinking it has to do with some type of encryption Windows Media Center puts on the file. Keep the ideas coming, I would think there is some way to do this. Or If you record TV to your PC then put it on your BB, tell me how you do it. Thanks

what file format are you trying to convert from? and welcome btw, forgot to say that earlier

Good Question, I think it is AVI but don't know for sure. It says "Microsoft Recorded TV Show" in the file type under properties, and says AVI in the desktop manager when I drop and drag it to my BB.

if it is an avi it should be able to be converted with no issue. record a couple minutes of a show and then send it to me. i will find a way to convert it for the pearl. PM me for email.

They do not support DVR-MS (Which is what this file is) But this looks like a nice service for all other files. Thanks

I am going to post the "resolution" in case some one searches for this in the future the answer will be here.

IF you are recording live TV using Windows Media Center (and possibly other applications) the File format is DVR-MS. The link Sith gave above is a program to convert it to MPEG. From there I convert it to a 3GP because I can not Media Manager to convert it (although I think it should) using Ultra Mobile 3GP Video Converter Ultra Mobile 3GP Video Converter,AVI to 3GP,MPEG to 3GP,MOV to 3GP,3GP Converter,3G2 Converter [/url] Seems to work great so far, I have some DVR'd shows I record them to my computer then put the on my BB. actually media manager or seabyrd video converter for blackberrys works just fine with the mpeg2 output

I convert the file using "Convert DVR-MS file to MPEG" When I drag and drop the conerted file using Media Manager/Roxio if I convert for Optimal Playback I get the message "One or More of the Files could not be transfered" If I tranfer with no conversion the file is not viewable on the BB, and has a MPEG symbol in the Media Manager and will not play. Do you know what I am doing wrong? It works fine if I convert to 3GP.

try the other convert to mpeg profile

Just tried it same thing. Does this have anyhthing to do with it? "Ultra Mobile 3GP Video Converter is an MPEG to 3GP converter which supports decoding MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4 files to 3GP video"

nope, dont think so, that just means it decodes and reencodes in a different format. not sure why it isnt working for you, but as long as you got it working thats great (y)

Yeah, It works great, I have my 2G card 1/2 full, PERFECT. My down time out of town will be much better now:smile:
