Default Movies On BB - 02-19-2008, 09:39 AM

Does anyone watch movies on their BB's? I currently use an ipod video but wanted to know if the BB performs just as well, even though the screen is a tad smaller.

**I'll move this post over to the Media section, and perhaps someone will see it, or you might even search around there for an answer.**

I agree, although I am still a noob, I loaded Blade II (yeah old movie I know) haha and it seemed to work fine. I am still looking for a program that will shrink it down a little more file size wise that it is. The smallest I could get mine was 520MB. It played ok though if your in a pinch and dont have your Ipod with you.

I have 7 movies and 300 mp3s on my device right now on a 4gb card. None on those movies take up more than 300mb. Do a google search for blackberry video converter. It seems to compress the file alot more than Roxio Does. Its not drag and drop but works well.

I just downloaded blackberry video converter by MediaCell or is it MediaCall. I haven't tried it but I can say I use the same software except for the Ipod to convert videos and it works perfect and its pretty fast.

I'm going to assume that playing videos will eat up the battery just as fast as an Ipod video does correct? When I play movies on my ipod I always have it plugged in.

Playing a video kills a battery slightly slower than using it on a continous voice call. keep in mind that if you are watching full movies that could be the equivalent of 1-4 hours of talk time (depending on the movie)

i do. currently i have a pearl will be getting the curve if and when it comes to VZW with a bigger screen. I just use the encoding specified by blackberry. i have a mac and use visualhub and encode using .mp4 just make sure its not an h.264 format mp4 as that is not supported. it looks good sounds good, and with my 4g gig card doesn't take up lots of space with around 250mgs a movie. i love this phone no need for ipod video..... i just want the curve for the bigger screen because the pearl is small, but still enjoyable.

VZW 8330 (Curve) - Current BB
VZW 8130 (Pearl) - Hidden in a box.
VZW 8703e - Went down the toilet.

^^search for mediacell. also, for the future, you might want to fill out what model bb you have in your profile. this way, we can all help each other out if we know certain programs will work for one model versus another. ex-for me, i tried the searbyrd converter and it doesnt encode for my 8130 vzw so im going to try the mediacell next.

We have a video section on Themes4BB.com now. All are encoded for the Blackberry under 3GP.
