Nice theme, I would suggest that menu font is smaller, it looks a little to big. But thats me.. i'm used to size 7 hehe ;p

Good job. Looks very much Linux-esque. I agree that the font is a bit too large, though.

Thanks! When I get home from work today, I will try making the font a little smaller and repost the image, and then we will see how that looks.

I like it. I would leave the font the same size. Otherwise, I have to use my reading glasses.

just the menu font needs to go down. (bottom left image). shrink it to a 7 or 8 and you should be good to go. BBM is whats causing it to be so wide.

I un-bolded the font in the menu, let me know how you like it. And Sci-Tek, I hope you realize that size 7 font is minuscule.

icons look great.. would you consider using a 'softer' font? Something like BBCondensed perhaps

There is a lot more done to it than just changing the background. Did you even notice that the icons are not default? Besides, it is far from finished.

However, they were probably made with the same pallet. And don't talk about my icons when your Vista theme icons don't match the Windows Vista ones either. Can we please stop the flaming and leave each other alone? Thanks!

That does not sound like constructive criticism. Constructive criticism would be telling me what should be changed and what you do/don't like about it.

So where were we? Smoother font, right? Well, the current font is BBClarity. Tell me what you think. (See screen-shots)

This theme will be available for the 7100, 8100, 8300, 8700, and 8800. It will be available for every version: Icon, Today, and Zen. It will be five dollars to purchase.

I expect it to be done around a week from now.

Default xubuntu - 02-26-2008, 09:23 AM

I was excited when I heard of an xubuntu theme being made. But this one leaves me disappointed. All you really did was change the icons. And charge $5 for doing so. Also it doesnt really look that much like xubuntu.

xubuntu2.jpg

that is what xubuntu looks like. Now im all for payment for work, but $5 for something that would seriously take me 3 minutes to do is stretching it abit.

I saw in an earlier post how you said it looks "computerized" because its a theme based off of a computer. Computers have come quite a long way recently and dont look like that anymore.

I wish Calibri font was available on BB... ever since installing Office 2007 I've fallen in love with it - even updated my resume for it

I am sorry you are dissapointed. But just to let you know, this theme has taken more of my time then 3 minutes. I feel it does look a lot like xubuntu. If you would like to give me some advice to make it look more like xubuntu, I would appreciate that.

Also, I will ask you this, not as an insult, but out of curiosity. Have you ever made a theme, or are you just assuming you could duplicate my theme in 3 minutes?

Okay... If it doesn't look like Xubuntu, please tell me what I can do to fix it. I am trying to get this as accurate as possible.

I think the OP is sincerely asking, what direction would you take the theme?

Constructive criticism is helpful here... You know if some of you guys walked around a craft fair or art show and came upon a new exhibitor and said some of things you say here, you would get busted and escorted out.

Hell if you don't like the theme, just say so and move on. I think the OP can take it. Or be a decent human and just don't comment. Or be a true gentleman, and offer advice or constructive criticism. Unless there is something you are afraid of, just what is there to be afraid of helping someone?

If there is a reason to not help, I need to rethink what I am doing here.

Sry if I came off a little strong. Personally i think the fonts should be softer, such as "trebuchet" as a font. Nice smooth font bolded or normal. Also try adding different meters to make it more unique, there are ALOT of themebuilder goodies available on pinstack to download for free. Also if interested i have some meters that i've modified as well as created from scratch. pm me if you want some.

and yes i have made some themes. The quickest route to see one of mine would be mobile41.com

8300_misc
(my themes are at the very bottom of the page)

it was supposed to be a more macish type of theme but ended up being a "heinz 57" mix of various things.

also on pinstack if you go to the 8100 themes section.

8100/Pearl Themes - Page 18 - PinStack.com
(my two themes are posts #269 and #270 on page 18 if the link doesnt work)

some other themes:

LINKIN PARK THEME:
PinStack.com

Un-named theme: (my favorite pearl theme)
PinStack.com

I can't see what's wrong with this theme. It might not exactly look like xubuntu, but when I looked at the screenshots I really felt that it looks like Linux. You won't be able to make a theme look 100% like any Linux distribution, but I think he's coming very close to it. I didn't really bother about the font. The new font size looks good.

The only change I may (possibly) make, is to adjust the font so that it is just a tad bit smaller size. But I can assure you, I will not go back to the bold font.

And that is the only change regarding the font by the way, not the whole entire thing.
