I see that you have a website that deals with unlocking BBs, how long would it take to unlock my 8700g on tmo???

You can call TMobile and get it unlocked for free if you just tell them you're travelling out of the country and want to use prepaid sim cards while you're gone. It'll take about 24-48 hours to get the code. You have to be a customer for 90 days and your account must be in good standing.

I called Tmobile and they told me that I need to have a sim card other than my tmobile sim card in my BB when I use the unlock code. I haven't heard of this step in any of the instructions I've seen on this forum. Is this true? or will my tmo sim card work?

Yes, you have to enter a non Tmo sim (AT&T, etc) and it will prompt you for the unlock code. borrow one for a minute if you can.
