Default Ringtone - Louder? - 04-23-2008, 09:55 PM

Hi, I was hoping you guys could help me out. I just got rid of my EnV and now have a BB 8830 with VZW. I have always made my own ringtones. My girlfriend has the pearl and the tones play nice and loud on her phone. When I play them on my phone under the media section they play loud, but when I play them as a ringtone they are way too quite. Is there a way I can make it louder? I need a loud ringtone. I do have the settings for the ringtone set on high, but it's not even close to as loud as on her pearl or the EnV for that matter. Thanks for your help!

In your Profile, for the Active Profile, you do have the volumes set there on high for notifications, correct? The settings are Mute, High, Medium, Low, and Escalating.

Yea that's what I meant by having it set on high. For some reason it's not nearly as loud as her pearl. It plays nice and loud when I'm under the media player but when it's set as a ringtone it's really quiet :( Thanks for any help - can get.

Low volume ringtones have been an issue on the 8830 half a year.

You are welcome to try any of the LOUD ringtones I have stored here, look especially at the ones names' ending in "LOUD", Index of /ringtones

Thanks for the site, I might have to use one of those. I was hoping there was a way that I could make my ringtones louder, as I like to edit songs. I've even tried to turn the volume on them way up in the music editor before putting them on the BB with little results. I was unaware that this is an issue. I'm a little disappointed but oh well, it's not that big of a deal. If anyone else has any other ideas, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Others have commented that the updated OS for the 8830 (look at the Sticky Notes at the top of our 8800 series section, for the 8830 OS) helped on the volume issue. Read through that thread and note any comments on ringtone volume. You might choose to upgrade the OS.

I'm pretty sure I already have the latest OS on my BB :( I'm kind of surprised that something hasn't come out from RIM to remedy the situation. It has to be some kind of a programming issue or something. The speaker can obviously handle it because it plays great in the media section on the BB. Thanks for your input, any more would be appreciated

ETA: Correction, I do not have the newest version. I have 4.2.2.176, and the sticky says the newest version is 4.2.2.353. Doesn't seem like anyone thinks the ringer volume went up. Interesting. Thanks for the input.

I found out another problem with this today....the alarm isn't loud enough to wake me up!!! hahahaha Kind of funny but not really. I've always used my phones as alarms, and this one just isn't loud enough. If only it would ring as loud as it plays in the media section....

I agree fully. The alarm is very quiet as is the ring tone volume i just upgraded to the latest OS i found in the sticky notes and i don't think it helped really...
I hope something is done about it soon because I've missed a lot of calls so far

Procrastinate now, don't put it off.
