Default Great video converter (Free) - 05-07-2008, 11:14 AM

Well, for people to view videos on some of their BB's it's required to convert them into MP4 format first.

I don't like the program Verizon provided me so I went on a hunt last night trying any freeware program I could find. I found a jewel amongst all the rocks.

Free Zune Video Converter 1.0 - AVI to WMV, AVI to WMA - Jacek Pazera

Program's real easy to use and works quickly. It also isn't like 90% of programs out there claiming to be free but only giving you a trial version for free.

Just download the program and run it. There's no installation necessary.

Another interesting feature which I haven't checked out yet is you can convert straight video files to MP3. An option that I think could be cool in the right circumstances.

Check it out.

Wirelessly posted (Curve 8310)

Thanks for the link.

So, for example, if you go to youtube for instance and click a video, does this app open it, or do you have to save it to your card and then open it?

No no, you mis-understood me. It's a PC program that converts videos you already own into a format you're BB can read. You copy the video file to your MicroSD and watch it on the media player on the device.

Useless for devices that can read uncompressed videos, but great for those of us who don't.

Ah gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.

Maybe I miss read a step but I can't seem to figure out how to get the converter working. I have my vids saved on my desktop as FLV files and I added them to the converter but when I click on covert it says file error 1. Here are my settings.

output
MP4(MPEG-4/ACC)- video&audio
500: bitrate
25: fps
audio
auto: bitrate
auto: sampling
res
320x180
what am I doing wrong?

It can't convert FLV sadly. Use vixy.net : Online FLV Converter : Download online videos direct to PC / iPod / PSP. It's free! for that. It should work fine for what you want.

Thanks a bunch. I'll give it a shot after work. I was getting frustrated over lunch. I have a few vids I wanted to transfer/convert and I downloaded 5-7 programs that said it could convert but none of them worked. If this works tonight you've made my day.

Cheers
