| Ringtone Lengths Please Login to Remove! Is it normal for different ring tones to ring at different lengths?
Some of my tones when assigned to my @blackberry.net account only ring for about 3 - 4 seconds, when others ring the entire length of the tone. They all are between 20 - 30 seconds in length. If I assign them to either a phonebook contact or the phone ringer, they ring the entire length also.
Is this normal? Does it have something to do with a setting, or is it made to do this for email & texts?

Mine all play the length of the MP3 unless I stop it. Most of mine are 30 seconds for ringtones and 2 to 4 seconds for alerts. | Offline

I'm very interested in some good answers for Kamau's question. I used an mp3 song in my phone as the phone ring tone and it is VERY short. | Offline

| Unless I am incorrect, your email and SMS are notifications, and won't play 30 seconds. | Offline

Okay, I guess I'll Google search on how to edit mp3's so I can have a shorter one. I think my friend did this so I'll ask him. I was just looking at ring tones, not the notifications for email or sms. I like having them on vibrate only. Thanks! | Offline

That I understand, but I have some that play longer than others. Some will play the entire tone, like 8 seconds or so, while it'll play another tone for only 3 seconds or so.

Do Emails play longer and SMS only the short? What is the common factor here, or is there none. One email will play long, and another from the exact same contact will play short? | Offline

One email will play long, and another from the exact same contact will play short? | No, I'm strictly talking about SMS, text, email and all, not contacts.
example, I have two tones. One is 8 seconds and one is 6 seconds. The 8 second tone will play it's entirity, but the 6 second one will only play for about 3 or 4 seconds.
Now my question is why and can I alter or correct that?

Does this occur on ALL emails or just some, on all SMS or just some. | Offline

It occurs on all email. No one particular sender.

| I always use "Make My Own Ringtone" and set it to about 30 seconds that I like, it's VERY easy to do.
I would assume SMS would be shorter than a phone call, I personally don't like ringtones too much, esp. for SMS's | Offline

| I think ALL your emails are alerts, not rings, therefore a shorter tone is all that is allowed. | Offline

| Ringtone Maker on Hard Drive I would like to use a free ringtone maker where I can save the ringtone onto my hard drive, then copy it to my Blackberry instead of sending the ringtone from a web application to my phone. Any ideas? | Offline

I think you're right JS. Another one of those things I'll just have to live with.
Thanks!
