Default Theme compatibility OS 4.5 - 07-18-2008, 09:37 PM

I might be a little out of the loop here, but I'm pretty sure I heard caution that OS 4.5 is iffy with a lot of themes. Is that right?

Specifically I downloaded one of the new themes from Bplay ("Finder" Bplay : BlackBerry Themes : Finder)... I'd like to make the jump to 4.5 but want to enjoy this theme as long as I can. Would it work okay?

Wirelessly posted (TMO 8120 4.5.0.52)

A lot of themes that are Zen show the Dimmensions theme picture through when pulling up the applications list. I say make the jump!

Apparently there is also a header problem that effects some themes and forces the text into the default font from BB Dimension. I hadn't noticed this that much since I was much more concerned about installing themes and not having them show in my theme list or having theme home pages not appear (just the applications page).

Virtually all of my 4.5 theme problems disappeared after I reinstalled the BB Dimension themes that I had removed. Since reinstalling them, I haven't had those problems.

I definitely wouldn't let that prevent you from upgrading to 4.5

Thx to all for the great advice!

Sheldon

I'm thinking of downloading Bplay's Explorer theme. I actually had this theme previously but it caused an earlier 4.5 beta version to be very unstable and I wound up loosing it.

I didn't think too much of it since the 4.5 was beta but I recently downloaded the "real deal" 4.5. When I first installed the 4.5 I was having all kinds of freezing problems and wound up deleting a custom theme from eveek. My 4.5 now runs fine.

Soooo, long story short I'm nervous about trying the Bplay theme again, especially when you have to pay for it. I did contact Bplay an hour so ago but would appreciate any advice/experience you guys had.
