I don't think they can be edited.
It is my understanding that the themes available are from different units and carriers NOT themes designed or modified by jibi.

how is it possible that the default 72XX themes are shrunk (as shown by the thread starter)? Is that possible on the handheld to shrink the icons? I have never seen that option. If so thats cool

Jim, not a clue.
El Chino, correct.
bb4lfe, the icons cannot be sized differently than what they are already. The 72xx themes were designed at a resolution of 240x160. When you put something that was designed at that resolution, it will appear smaller when placed on a resolution of 240x260 (its not resized, so it just has more room). When you do the opposite, taking something with a higher resolution by design and place it into a format of a smaller resolution (7100 theme on a 7290 handheld), then it will appear QUITE large.
Hope that makes sense.

I have updated this to be compatible with the 7700 series handhelds, as well. Enjoy kiddos. The only issues I've noticed with the 7700 is the following:
1 - calculator from 7200 handhelds is vertically centered, however it does work
2 - calculator from 7100 handhleds is full-screen, although the LED text and depressed keys are not aligned properly
3 - when O2 theme is activated then another theme is activated, it results in a recoverable JVM error and the theme looks rather deformed; you can fix this by selecting another theme then switching back to the other theme
4 - it appears the T-Mobile theme could be suffering from something similar to the O2 theme; I have noticed this when switching to and away from the theme
okay, thats all I've noticed. both links are updated.

Awesome job! I only have one issue -- I loaded the themes onto my 7100t and when I use the default theme (I LOVE this one as it gets all of my apps onto one screen) and try to use the calculator, it is not only deformed, but I get an "Uncaught exception:java.lang.IllegalArgument Exception" error. Any suggestions?

Some new development.... ON my 7100t i was using the default small icon theme. After installing the new theme pack to see what the new orange theme looked like, after phone reboot, the white dither layer actually moved down to the bottom, right above the title bar on the bottom of the screen.
Thus not making it in the center. So if one enabled this, took a wallpaper and used photohop to edit a wallpaper making the bottom white and then have it dither up. You would have a wallpaper that basically hides the layer and uses it at the same time.
I made a template awhile back for the light effect in the center of the screen, there is a thread somewhere here.
I was thinking of making a new photoshop template, however i just installed the very sexy hi res vodafone skin... I love it! so when i get bored with this, i will do that for the smaller icons...
voda is hotta!!

meducate, thats an issue with the theme being installed on a handset that it wasnt intended for, thus making it not work. nothing we can do.

and i, as well.
have tried orange and vodafone, taking both the high road and the low road. the bberry server explanations are kinda fun to read. have been told "Not a valid jad file!" and then very politely explained to that the URL was perhaps incorrect. friendliest DNS i've ever received.
i was, however, able to download the zip file from twoeighteighty, so go ahead and add me to the list of confused also.

i'll have a look at things tomorrow with the OTA stuff when i get a chance from work.
jezzebel, its available with the installation package of whatever OS you have. i'm using the 4.0.2 package. if you are using 3.8 or 4.0, then that could be the reason (i'm venturing towards your using 3.8). the module should be named net_rim_theme_tmobile_240x260.cod.

all error messages are coming from the RIM servers, and identify the problems as coming from the twoeighteighty domain.

the invalid JAD file is humorous, to say the least. it won't be that. it possibly could be the fact that the connection is dropping at some point between the handheld and the server when loading the first bit of the first COD file when loading the JAD. but the JAD files are not invalid (unless something has changed).

Can I ask a VERY dumb question? I got the zip file downloaded but how do I get them installed on my 7280. I have this through work and have been very limited as to what I can do but have found away around this now. Hence I am lost. Just yesterday I upgraded from 3.6 so the whole theme thing is brand new to me. Appreciate you patience as I take this waaay back. Thanks for the help.

Compatibilty Issues -
09-20-2005, 10:42 AM
The calculater function is pretty important to me....the original Vodafone theme put on here must have been the 7290 version as I removed it because of the calculater...thanks for putting up the 7100 version.
Basically, if you have a 7100 you can use the Vodafone 7100v (when I'm feeling red), T-Mobile (when I'm feeling gay...c'mon...pink??), O2 (when I'm feeling blue...love the water droplets) and the default list (when I'm feeling like a nobody and want to blend in with the other newbies).
Default (small and large), Orange and the Vodafone 7290 obviously do not have a calculater worth a damn...although it was nice to see the old keyboard layout on the screen.....

I Must Be Missing Something -
09-20-2005, 02:56 PM
Okay, I give up. I have been trying to download the themes on my 7100t for two days now and I'm starting to wonder when I got so dumb
Using my BB browser, I tried to get to the links for the o2 themes for the 7100 series but I get the same answer every tim: HTTP Error 503 Service Unavailable. Thing is, I have full barredge and I tried it at home last night as well, getting the same error.
I also tried downloading the files to my desktop (at work and home) and don't know what program to open them with. I tried notepad but that didnt work.
What am I missing? And trust me, Im pretty sure I'm missing something reeeeally obvious! But, please put a girl out of her misery, wouldya?
I've read through this thread looking to see if anyone else had the same problem but it seems not exactly. I've uninstalled all my apps and then reinstalled them and still can't get anywhere on my BB.
Any ideas?
[quote=jibi] * Note: First and foremost, many thanks to all of the people involved with laying the groundwork for the public consumption of themes installation on BlackBerry devices. This includes jaysen, jnelson2000, as well as quite a few others. I have written atleast 4 major themes topics myself (maybe more), including those on OTA installation, the BlackBerry.alx all-inclusive installation, the installation of 7100 themes on 7200 devices, and the installation of 7200 themes on 7100 devices. This will be the last installation guide for themes made by me until others are released (which I will add to this guide).
I have set up a few different methods for installation and delivery, including and OTA configuration and a option-based ALX/COD installation.
Over-The-Air:
This method allows you to download the theme directly to your handheld without using a PC. Each individual COD file has been broken down to child COD files that will range in size from about 20KB-80KB. The success rate for these files should be near 100% unless you are in a very low signal area.
ALX/COD:
I have taken the time to make an ALX file that sets a top level installation of 'BlackBerry Themes' with separate installations for each theme (see screenshot below). This method allows you to pick and choose which themes you want to install rather than forcing you to install all of the themes specified in previous ALX installations. I have both the 7100 and 7200 series in the single ALX file, but only 8 will show for either in Application Loader - one file fits all (or something like that).

okay...deep breath....you've already downloaded them to your desktop, so you're halfway there.
Go to your BB desktop manager and click on the "application loader"
click "next"
click "add"
select the folder on your desktop where you saved the themes
That's it...then you can select the ones you actually want to load on to your BB...it syncs right up.
I was confused at first as well as I hadn't added an application in a long time. Let me know if it works.

This is what I did before I uninstalled and reinstalled my apps. I guess I never went back and did it again
Oh thank you....thank you thank you thank you!

I have the 7250 and am using the vodaphone theme. Just wondering if there is any way of knowing if I'm still in my 1X service area or not. And also for the calculator I see both the original and the Voodaphone calculator overlapping each other. Has there been a fix for that aswell? Other than that these themes are amazing. Thanks for any help you all can provide.

I have noticed that since I installed the entire package on my 7100, the month view in Calendar no longer highlights each individual day as I scroll through the calendar. Any ideas?

same here with the Voda 7200 theme. btw, the themes (except the large icons theme) have been updated with a newer version (although i'm not sure if much more than the version number would have been updated).

i dont see why it wouldn't work, to be honest, so long as your handheld is on OS 4.0 or above. you can download it using one of the OTA links or choose the ZIP file and install only that theme with the ALX/COD files.

Hi there: Not sure if I missed this in the thread somewhere, but hoping someone can answer this for me. I'm guessing the answer is "no", but if someone can give me a definitive, that'd be great. I run a 7290 from T-Mobile, and I just downloaded the Vodafone theme. Is it possible to choose which applications I want to reside within the "Applications" folder? Icons that I previously had marked as hidden have re-appeared, and I am unable to hide them. Any ideas, anybody?
