I was pretty sure that OS 4.5 was supporting larger cards than 8Gb. Hmmmm......

Sith_Apprentice was supposedly using one in a 4.5 device and said it worked fine. Have to look into that more...

I need a 12GB...8GB is full and I need more movies/music! Can one of you mods get Sith to appear here and confirm/deny using a 12GB on OS 4.5?

This is great information to know. My issue is I've got an 8 GB card with a Pearl that has Device Software 4.2.1. T-Mobile says they don't have software updates for the Prearl. Is there any remedy for this?

While T-Mobile hasn't release a 4.5 OS update, other carriers have. You can install a 4.5 OS update, and your 8GB card should be recognized.

My Pearl is an 8100 from T-Mobile. And thank you for the 4.5 OS update tip. I'll look for it and try.

I gave up an 8830 World for this Pearl. I like the size, but, am I goofy for doing that?

I believe this was updated by RIM. I don't have the new KB in front of me but 4.5.0.81 (or thereabouts) and higher will support up to 16Gb.

Mmmmm....

I got 8gb cards running on 8310's with 4.2.... (two users in fact)
I have had to format them on a pc prior to placing them in the device and they work...

Yes, they will work as long as they're not formatted in the handheld. Some have reported that not all of the space actually works, though. YMMV.
