Question Question about Plazmic - 10-02-2008, 12:19 PM

Is it possible to make a theme where it takes the top five apps and puts them on the main screen like it does when you use Zen or the default Sprint theme? I am trying to create a theme where I can have the new emails displayed and upcoming calendar items and then the 5 apps of my choice. I haven't figured out how to make that work. I can only get it to choose the standard BB apps like call log, email, sms, etc. My main goal is to put Gmail on this screen.

Wirelessly posted (All the cool kids are doing it)

You have to have CDK 4.6 which isn't available as a public release and have to make a "Custom" theme to accomplish that

I believe you can do this by making a custom theme with plazmic 4.5 you can make a custom today+ which is a today theme with Zen. for the gmail you would have to put a default inbox on the homescreen if Gmail is your only email you are getting on your BB it will be that icon. I would play around with plazmic and do a few test with the simulator

Thanks
Gary

Yea you can do this with the 4.5 but you won't be able to put any third party applications on there, only 4.6 has the ability for third party applications

thanks for the answers. Guess I will wait for 4.6. Gmail app was my only reason for doing this. Guess I'll just stick with Zen.

No..that will not work on Themebuilder 4.5. Gmail has its own vendor icon, when you install the google tools, from google mobile.

Are you saying I can install google tools on 4.5 and then add the gmail app?

I was thinking he was asking about gmail as a message icon, I guess I wasn't understanding his question, I have 4 e-mails on my BB and they create a new default inbox for all, I guess that is what 4.2 does. I didn't know gmail offered an icon, I guess I need to learn more about 4.5.

Thanks
Gary
