Default Protocol specified is not supported

Please Login to Remove!

In a web page viewed through the Blackberry browser, we display peoples phone numbers. We have used the tel: link to make this appear so that users can click to call. On some of our Blackberries, this works exactly as intended and dials the number. On others it displays a message Protocol specified is not supported by the handheld. Similarly, we have not enclosed fax numbers in any link tags. On Blackberries where the tel: link works, the fax number is regular text and does not dial the number. On Blackberries where the tel: links do not work, the fax number has a dotted underline and does allow the user to dial the number.

We are keen to have a common interface for all our users and are keen to get to the bottom of why this is happening for only part of our user base. The OS and Browser versions are very similar on all our Blackberries.

Any help gratefully received.
