Pretty sure it's done via SVG in Composer.

It's on my list of stuff to figure out, too, but I hardly have time to create themes, let alone sort any programming aspects, etc. for animated/scrolling elements.

It is really really cool, though.

Yep it is done in composer, and I am getting close, but I'm having trouble being able to move the icons around.....once I load the SVG file around into the theme builder.

I'm guessing, there is either a strong lack of knowledge on how to do this, or nobody wants to let the secret out.

Well it would be easier to help you if we were able to tell what you have now and what your trying to accomplish...the scrolling needs to be done in composer and only composer and then loaded into the theme builder (which from there wouldn't be touched)

Well what I have now is a animated icon[s] with the green line that shows where it goes [up, down - side to side]. What I am unclear of is do you need to:

- "convert to animation" or "convert to button" [ it appears either way works, but only 1 has to be right, I assume]
- how do you hide the icon in composer so you can still change the icons around in theme builder and still have happen what you told it to when it hit the simulator
- which do you use to "trigger" the action -on activate, on focus in, on focus out?? - or none and I struck out...ha-ha

I swapped it around last night and made a box and animated that, saved as SVG file, but when I imported it to theme builder I couldn't put any icons on it, but it was animated on the simulator.

So if anyone wants an empty animated box on their BB Bold, I can hook them up, lol.....

Hopefully this makes sense.

I'm trying to go between the .pdf manual and composer to "get it", but I think I am going to print out the manual for a in your face type reference....oh and get my kids to bug off so I can concentrate!

Well convert to button would make it into a button in composer...since you want it to assume the first "x" location of the icons you need make a "theme button" in composer...

Any help with this? I have managed to incorporate this into a Today/Zen theme, however, I had problems with the navigation between the scrolling Zen and Today sections of the theme.

What version of theme builder are you using? If you're just trying to make them scroll horizontally a-la default Bold theme, you can do that in 4.6 by making a custom theme, and going to navigation tab and doing it there.

Now if you're talking about a Mac OS style bar with smooth transitions, that's another story.. I'd like to find that out myself :D

I'm trying to create a theme that scrolls through 10 icons. I have managed to do this somewhat by importing the JScroll .svg file from the sample folder in Plazmic, however, navigation tends to be sketchy at times.

You can add as many icons as you like, and navigate them whichever way you like without having to import an .svg file, as long as it's a "custom" theme and not a "today/zen/icon" style theme. This, of course, is if you're using CDK 4.6.

There's a great thread on the Plazmic forums explaining how to do just that:

Not talking about that, we are talking about creating an .svg file in composer like the "crossbar" theme.

I got it, well I need to work out a few minor kinks to make it perfect, but I have installed one of my test themes with the scrolling dock and it is scrolling.

Wooo-hoooo, oh and thanks "MrKyoo" for popping in telling me I'm going at it the hard way and then abandoning ship....

Care to share the details?

I've tried modifying the existing JScroll theme (in the Plazmic sample folder) like SaneinOne did above, and it works the way it's supposed to if I leave the JScroll.svg file untouched. However I tried modifying the composer file (JScroll.cp) in the Composer (just added some background, nothing major), and when I export it to SVG the bar doesn't scroll anymore when I import the .svg file into a theme. Is there something that needs to be set in the exporting options in the Composer to make it work?

I wonder if it can be hand-modified... sometimes editors has odd bugs.

I'm in the same boat. I'm trying to re-size the sample to 320 x 240, and the icons to the standard size for smaller screens, but I'm getting nowhere.

Editing the JCScroll (resizing the screen size and icons) will not work. You will have to redo the 'X' and 'Y' positions also. If you did that by hand, it take you weeks. but I know how to ...

Not in any way that's really satisfying. Things just don't line up most of the time - and export to SVG is not the place to adjust.

I'm starting from scratch.

To the best of my knowledge, Composer doesn't currently support the specific transform animations required to make the scrolling and bottom dock themes. This is why they are added to the .svg using a text editor.

Use Composer to make your layout and theme button bar/dock and then export to SVG. Then open the SVG file in a text editor and type in the coding for the transform animations at the end to get the theme buttons to move around. Check out the jscroll and todayplus svg files to see how this is done. You'll need to have an understanding of how the commands actually accomplish the scrolling/moving of theme buttons during the focus in animations in order to correctly set the x and y values if you are resizing.

I've been able to get the scroll, dock, and even scrolling dock to work for the Pearl and Curve but they do not navigate properly because OS 4.5 does not support setting the navigation order in Theme Builder. Composer allows the adjusting of the button focus order but I still can't get it to interface properly with the rest of the theme. To be more specific, navigation is backwards (ie left is right, up is down), including having to scroll up to get to the scroll bar or bottom dock.

Just like nqwan said: You have to add the transform animation tags to your svg after you completed the layout in composer. Composer can't add these tags at this time. So its up to you to place them in the svg while opening with notepad.

If any pearl users want a copy of a working jscroll svg, just pm me.

As for the navigation, scrolling right makes the icons scroll right, and scrolling left scrolls all the icons to the left. I would suggest having a profile icon in your banner, and set the navigation in themebuilder to horizontal scroll and scroll up to profile icon.

Yep, I want the opposite of that. If I move the trackball to the right, the buttons scroll to the right, meaning I just highlighted the button to the left. I want it so it highlights the button in the same direction as I'm moving the trackball. I can reverse the button order and have the button bar/layer move right instead of left in the svg file but that would start the scrolling on the right hand side of the screen.

I do have a profile icon in the banner. The issue occurs when I add today or zen icons to the homescreen in addition to the scroll bar or dock. With a vertical scroll layout, I have to scroll up from the today/zen icons to get to the bottom dock/scroll bar. It's as if the svg takes focus priority over the Theme Builder content regardless of where the svg buttons are on the screen.

If there was a way to adjust the navigation order in Theme Builder like with the OS 4.6 phones, there wouldn't be a problem.
