Ok, so what does that mean? I have no idea. If you, or anybody, can give me real specific instructions, like do I plug the USB cord from the computer to my phone, and if so, at what point?

Sorry, but I'm probably older than you guys, I don't know how to do this. If my kids lived anywhere near, I'd get their help, I'm sure they'd know how!!!

Desktop manager is the cd that came with you blackberry it has a progream called media manager from their you should be able to click on the some and "drag" it to the blackberry side of the screen (as you will see when installed)

yes you would have to plug it in to your computer using the cable that came with it

Desktop manager is a program for Windows that came with your CD. Install it and run it. Then follow the help files to transfer your music to the BB. Sometimes there are more steps than that, so feel free to ask if you get stuck.

if you have itunes, the easiest way is to download blackberry media sync. all u hav to do is connect ur berry, start up itunes and the media sync, and transfer playlists from itunes to your berry.

If you are going to have music on your device, you need a media card otherwise the device memory will be too full and you will lose messages, etc. You don't necessarily need Media Manager/Roxio. You can use Windows Explorer to drag and drop music files. You need to have Desktop Manager installed for this to work because you need the USB drivers.

This FAQ has detailed instructions for getting media on your device/card.

How do I add media files to my microSD card? - BlackBerryFAQ

If you use Media Sync, be aware it won't transfer iTunes songs that are DRM protected.

Might be easier to email them to yourself.

Songs may be too large to email. Using Windows Explorer to drag and drop is the easiest way, imo, to transfer files from your PC to BlackBerry.

True, but he'd just have to click and save in the browser, with the default location being the proper one.

Well first of all let me say that when my daughter was here at x-mas she d/l a bunch of songs for me onto real player on my computer. I have no idea how she did that and that's my next challenge to tackle. Anyway I opened the DM thing that came with my BB, opened real player, right clicked on each song, clicked on "move", and it transferred over to the DM thing and then I just dragged them into the field for my device. That was pretty much it. I am so pleased!

Believe me, if I posted half the things I try to figure out how to do on my blackberry, they'd all laugh for days. Great question...I've been trying to do that for months now.

I did just update my OS last night, all by myself. Didn't even have to ask my 12yo! That was a big deal for me!

Thanks! I just hate arrogance, that's all.

Yea, the updating of the OS was my project last week and I got that done, too. Usually my teens are all over that stuff for me, but, alas, they're all out of the house now!

Hey HICKORY...

I apologize if I came off sounding arrogant.

I was truly very happy for you and could detect your excitement in your post and it made me smile.

I know the feeling of trying to get things figured out, especially something as complex as these Blackberry's can be. Trust me - I am on these forums several hours a day now trying to this addicting little blackberry thing all figured out!!

That is all I was trying to say and why I thought it was a great post.

Oh no, I'm so sorry! I totally misread how you said that and now I feel like a jerk! I do apologize! This is a good example of how emails and such can be misinterpreted because you can't hear the persons tone, you know? I've had my first bb less than a month and it certainly is addicting! I love it and there's always so much more to learn.

I too have placed music (songs/ringtones/etc) on the Curve with The Roxio Media Manager and it was just OK

However, Now I simply use Windows explorer with the Curve hooked up to the usb port and it works like a charm. I LOVE IT

One question tho, I cannot transfer music (songs or ringtones) via email. I should correct myself--I can make the transfer, but it sounds terrible--crackly, etc.. Any ideas

Thanks to all for their ideas, and I hope all is having a great New Year so far
IF I missed the part of my question somewhere, I am sorry
