What OS are you using? XP, Vista?

I found this older thread, which indicated unzipping will solve this.

Here's a picture tutorial on how to unzip a file in XP.

Q108326: How Do I Unzip a File in Windows XP?

Where did you download the zip file to? Your desktop, My Documents or?

You can create a new folder by right-clicking on the desktop or in My Documents (anywhere really), and see the drop down menu -- select New > Folder. You can name it or it will be named New Folder by default.

After you unzip the theme file, you can copy and paste it or drag it onto that folder.

Never give up! It can be done. I've never installed a theme using the app loader, but there has to be instructions somewhere. I will look because I want to know too. Check back here in a little whiile.

If you could download the theme over the air (OTA), it would be easier.

Do you have the device OS installed to your PC? You need that for it to work.

OTA wasnt an option. I wish it were cause it is easier.

its so weird. i think i unzipped it correctly. i did as you showed me in the link. and the folder doesnt have the little zip logo. when i go to the file it has the .cod and .alx. but like i said when i go to put it in the app loader it still says theres a xml syntax error.

Ok, step by step instructions. You need the device OS installed to your PC.

How to install BlackBerry themes with Desktop Manager
1. Download theme/.zip file to pc
2. Unzip/extract .alx and .cod file
3. Plug in blackberry to usb cable
4. Launch desktop manager
5. Double click app. loader
6. Wait for initialization
7. Click add, navigate find where you saved .alx and choose
8. Click next and run thru wizard

Device will reboot.

hmmm thats what i was doing. could it possibly be that this is a bold and i havent updated DM yet? cause like i said, i did that to the letter and it wasnt adding in to app loader. i click add and it brings up the open box. and then the syntax error comes back, again.
