Default Free theme: Today Plus with bottom dock for 83xx and 88xx - 03-14-2009, 12:44 PM

Theme Developer Name: el_sheepo
Hosted at: see attached files; download to your PC and install using Desktop Manager (sorry, no OTA - if anyone wants to host them, please feel free)
Price: free
Additional information: supports all 83xx and 88xx devices with OS 4.5
Credits: to RIM of course for the resources

This free "Today Plus" style theme features a Calendar area with your next 6 upcoming events along with a massive 8 icons bottom dock. The icons on the bottom are fully customizable, of course.

It looks mostly like the new 8900's default theme but uses the standard "Dimension" icons. As I used the original resources everywhere, the whole system will look pretty close to that of a 8900 (dark transparency etc.).

I hope you like it .

P.S.: As I'm extremely picky about fonts myself, I gave great care to implement ONE consistent, highly readable font (BB Alpha Sans, 8pt, international characters included) for the whole system. The fonts can be changed, except for menus and lists (a limitation of Plazmic Theme Builder).

File Type: zip 83xx.zip (237.2 KB, 250 views)
File Type: zip 88xx.zip (237.2 KB, 104 views)

I really like this theme. I just wish it had one less calendar entry and showed application name.

Thanks for sharing.

Default Update: new version - 03-15-2009, 06:24 AM

Update: new version with application name showing

According to an idea of stepchild, I made a new alternative version of the theme which features only 5 calendar entries (instead of 6) but shows the application name of the highlighted app. This should better suit those who like to see their applications' names on the homescreen.

The homescreen looks like this (the rest of the theme is identical to the original one):

The original version of this theme with 6 calendar entries is still available, of course (see initial posting).

Default Updates: OTA downloads - 03-15-2009, 08:23 AM

Update: OTA downloads

I just found out how to host OTA downloads, so here goes:

Please note that I can't edit my inital posting anymore, so updates (if there should be any in the future) will only be accessible through OTA now.

Great looking theme! I am with you that I am extremely picky on my fonts which is why I haven't found many custom made ones that work for me. I even wish they offered a 6 on font size. I would like to see your theme with a BB Casual font on 7!

Great work though.

I'm sorry, but I don't have enough spare time at my hands to make additional theme versions with different fonts. But feel free to PM me if you want the ".THM" file for Plazmic Theme Builder to customize it for your personal needs.

WOW I was not expecting this! This is probably the best theme I've seen yet! I love how you kept the simplicity of all the original icons (since I hate it when I have a theme with custom icons and then just ones that you get when you download a new app) and the dock on the bottom that still tell me the temperature and all that stuff!!! Good job my friend, very good! Any other types of themes like this one to come in the near future??? I will surely download any of them!!!

Does this theme not work on the Nextel 8350i? I loaded it on my BB and it didn't seem to work.

Does it appear as an item in your theme menu?

I really like this theme, but would like to tweak just a couple items. I sent you a PM to take you up on your offer of getting the file

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but do you think there is a possibility of getting a 5 messages + application name?

Thanks,

For someone new to BB all together and wanting to not have to use the stock today theme...I've been very happy with this theme. Thanks!
