Cool VistaBB - Windows Vista Aero Theme for 83xx/87xx/88xx - 04-04-2009, 09:44 AM

Hi there, recently I have been working on a Vista Aero Style BlackBerry theme.
I decided it post it on here in order to share it with others.
I designed:
  • Signal and Battery Meters (From Scratch)
  • Banner (From Scratch)
  • Zen Tabs and Overlays (From Scratch)
  • Dialog Buttons (Using Screenshot)
  • Data Transmission Icons (From Scratch)
  • Loading Animations (From Scratch)
  • New Items Overlay (From Scratch)
The rest was all configured strategically in Plazmic.

Uses all the Actual fonts in vista: "Segoe UI"

Credit goes to CrackBerry Gallery for the Vista Ultimate Background.

Screenshots:

This did take a lot of my own time and I would greatly appreciate a donation of any sum.
If you choose to do so click on donate below (uses PayPal).

N.B This theme requires OS 4.5 or higher.

Download Links:

83xx

OTA (JAD) : Download (OTA)

87xx
Desktop (ALX/COD) : Download (RAR)
OTA (JAD) : Download (OTA)

88xx

I am Unable to test the OTA links so could you please comment on them after trying.

If I used zen themes, this would definitely be one to look at!

I tried it out, and it looks great. Only qualm is that they aren't user customizable. I would suggest going back to themebuilder and doing so.

Thank-you for raising this point, I am looking into it now and shall then update the download.

On the homescreen, when you have an icon selected, go to Properties, then check the block that says Use Device Application Order.

Icons reconfigured for user selectable order possibility and also I will eventually update this again slmoney once I remaster and recreate all icons using Vista's. Should be done by the end of the week.

Homescreen font doesn't seem to match, other than that, it looks pretty cool.

The only thing missing for me is the notification icons in the banner. Enough room for 3-4 would be great! (ex.Message, SMS, BBM, Facebook etc.)

Nice work.

Yeah i'd thought about that too; trouble is that the title bar is at the ratio of reality to vista's task bar size and practicality. Only one can display at a time however the one that displays can be any of the normal ones except it is only one.
I shall address this issue however in the next release.

I love this theme, the only thing that could make it better is if the fonts would use the fonts I pic & also when your on a call if you could match the call screen to a more Vista look (like the incomming wallpaper but with a vistaish cuve.) I will donate when I have some cash in about a week, look for a donation from Romeo

You can easily use the fonts you wish by selecting them in Options>Screen & Keyboard>Font Family

If you wish to reuse the original theme fonts just go to Options>Theme, then click trackwheel/trackball and select "Reset Theme Defaults"

Thanks in advance too for the donation

Yeah they now go along the bottom of the title bar, I am just exporting them now, I also have made the title bar semi-transparent so you can see your desktop through it like in real vista aero.

Sytner--

First off I would like to say I love this theme. My only gripe is where Carrier Name is placed. (Not to say that I'm even really in a position to gripe, since its a free theme) When I'm connected to WiFi Network, it cuts off the WiFi Networks name.. It's not a huge deal.. But I'm on WiFi constantly and its nice to be able to tell at a glance that i'm on the right network.

I was also wondering what the little arrow right between the clock and power bar was for. Seemed kind of random, thought maybe it did something cool in OS 4.6 or 4.7. Again thanks a bunch for listening. This is a really good theme. You should looking at getting it polished up and maybe throwing up somewhere for a few bucks.

Another reason why this will not work; If you copy the .jad onto your device it will show Invalid COD/COD not found etc because the .jad works by downloading the .CODs from its original location, therefore the OTA only works if you click on the links directly.

Sorry mods for thread bump.

Holy Moly!

My man - you have done an incredible job with this theme! Serious!

Your icons are phenomenal and your "busy" icon is one of the best I have seen yet. I love that thing.

This is one of the best all around themes I have seen. I am super impressed with the work you have done on this theme.

I am still mad at you though for making me download it

Have you tried again at a later time; also could you please clarify your post. What exactly happens when you attempt to download it via RAR? Does it even download? What happens when you try OTA? Do you get an error message?

Try this one:

-go to daniel-waghorn.co.uk/blackberry
-download all the .cod files and the .jad file for your model on your computer.(right klick and save as)
-put all these files in a folder and copy this folder to your blackberry (mediacard)
-after this press on media and choose search-->go to your mediacard and open the folder which you created before
-look for the .jad file and press the trackball to install the theme

Maybe these steps helps you.

@Sytner:

thanks for this fantastic theme. Great work.

P.S. my english isn`t well. But i hope all of you can understand what i wrote.
