ok im really new at this theme business for the blackberry. ive been a long time user of blackberry devices for work and all but have just recently discovered how much stuff is actually out there for them. i didnt even know you could custom make themes. my son actually pointed this out to me. well i went searching for some cool themes and came across a tool theme....you know the band tool. well i could not get the theme to load on any of my three blackberry's that i currently own. i really want it on my curve 8330. just wondering if anyone out there knew where i could find on that actually works. I would like one for the the pearl 8130 also if its possible. my son has that phone and he loves the band too.
any help or direction would greatly appreciated. thanks in advance, mike

I believe both of our devices are os 4.5. I know my curve is.
no i am on 4.6 i have an 8350i ....i also have direct connect and i make themes when i'm in the mood ,so lemme get this right u have a 8130 with 4.6 right ?
I'm pretty sure the pearl is running 4.5. I know my curve 8330 is rinning 4.5. Should I upgrade to 4.6 or something? Would that give me a better chance at finding one that will workor something?

ok i am certain i am running 4.5. when i go to "options" and then "about" it says version 4.5.0.77. i just checked my son's phone. he is also running 4.5 on his pearl for certain.
are you able to make one for that version or should i upgrade to 4.6?
The only Tool theme I can find is for the 81xx series, so it wouldn't load onto an 83xx or 88xx series (different resolutions).
I'm whipping up something of my own - I never thought of doing a Tool theme. There's so much great artwork to be incorporated into icons and stuff...
If you have a link to the one you found, please share it, so I can get a sense of what others are doing with their themes.
I have the page bookmarked at work. And I can't seem to find the page again after searching. I'll get it first thing tomorrow. I did download the file to my home computer also. If it would help I can send it to you the file. But to your point of their artwork and such. YES!!! This is exactly why I think it would be so awesome to have this. Their artwork is freakin amazing.
Ok it was driving me crazy so I kept looking until I finally found it. But it is saying that I can not post a link here until I have 10 post. And right now I only will have 6 including this post I am about to submit.
Yup, that's the same one I found. Sorry to put you through so much hassle.
I'm working on one now - for the moment I'm just gathering images for icons, etc.
I'm something of a pixel perfectionist, so it might take a while for me to get this together, but I'll be working diligently for a while (when I get free time). As a lawyer with young kids, my free time comes sporadically.
Here's a few glimpses of what I'm working on at the moment. It's going to be a while until it's ready, as I've got lots of GIMP work to do to get some decent icons.
You can ignore the default app icons - those will all change. You can also disregard the stock battery and signal meters. I've got a few ideas brewing for those...
Looks good! I would be interested in this theme. Now I am in the mood to put on some TOOL!
The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits. When you take things for granted, the things you are granted, get taken. Even a mosquito doesn't get a pat on the back until it starts to work.

Alright, I've been tinkering around with icons and meters and such for far too long. Can't quite suss the use of transparencies in certain elements (very inconsistent in Plazmic v. on device).
Here's the theme I'm running on my device right now. I have several variations, but they're old and have several elements that need to be updated.
I am still messing with my ideas for different icons, but just haven't had the time to really put the GIMP to work. In true TOOL fashion, the icons I have in mind bear no real relationship to the apps they represent - but they look cool.
For now, this version uses the plain old precision icons and other elements. The only thing I've really tweaked is the transmission indicators (and that was my biggest headache with transparency - what you see here is not what I had originally planned). I also use a very readable font throughout, except in the messages list, where I prefer the use of BB Alpha Sans because it allows boldface for unread messages.
Sadly, this feels to me like a simple "wallpaper" theme, since I'd rather hack about all the icons, etc. The theme developers out there among you know what I mean by that comment.
Enjoy this for now. I plan on updating the other variations soon, and will work on OTA files over at pimpmyberry (like all my other themes).
As a warning, I don't plan on making versions for devices other than 4.5 OS 320x240 (that means 83xx, 87xx, and 88xx only). I simply don't have the time right now to expand the platforms covered. Thanks.
OK so it has been awhile since I have visited this thread. I didn't even know that there was a theme posted. Im going to give it a try once I get back to my personal computer tonight. Thanks for the time you put it in we wei
I ran this on my 8820 for a few weeks, but now I've gone and put together a Bold look-alike that I'm using instead.
I did hack around with some other files, though, so now I've got the lateralus eye (from the homescreen on this theme) instead of the drab T-Mobile startup splash. I guess that's my limit for incorporating intense artwork into my BB experience.
