I downloaded some ring tones for 8310, one works fine, the second
one is too soft. Both were downloaded from the AT&T mall on
my 8310. How do fix the volume on the second ring tone or
do I just have a defective ringtone?

its not a "defective" ringtone
thats just the volume at which is was made...
not all songs are made to be the same volume....

So my only alternative at this point is to trash this ringtone?

if your not happy with it...then yes.
