I didnt' know to put this here OR in the Bold 2 9700 section, in case it handles contact's ringtones differently, so forgive me or move the post please if so. Thank you

I thought that when I have my contacts set up, formerly called exceptions, that when I pick phone, it rings differently, AND IT DOES, but I thought that "messages" would be SMS/MMS. It seems to be Inconsistent, some being for sms/mms, but some ALSO being for email as well, Not what I want

I certainly know that any inconsistency is from me having it set up wrong.

Could someone take a sec of their time and explain and set me straight?
