Has anyone been able to load any of the OS on the Verizon 8703e? I have tried every OS and followed the instructions precisely. When I launch the Desktop Manager...nothing! It doesn't give me the option to upgrade nor is there any OS listed in the applicaton loader. Suggestions or work arounds?

Zen Help Please -
10-04-2006, 09:23 AM
I sucessfully installed the Zen theme for Telstra last night. No errors and instructions were great! Upon complete I was expecting to see my icons listed to the right hand side of homescreen as other zen sceen shots I've seen. Much to my disappointment all my icons are on the home screen like previous OS? Did I do something wrong? Can anyone help me please?

Hello There.
I'm newish to BB but not new to cracking software and I have a couple followup questions:
1. If I do a software upgrade (to a diff carrier's version), will I loose all my contacts on the BB messinger?
2. WIll I have to go through enterprise activation?
3. I can't seem to tell which version of software I'll need in order to get the much talked about Zen theme. (I have an 8703e)
4.I understand I'll need to upgrade the software and then download the theme. Is that correct?
5. Have oter users tried this process onthe 8703e and been successful? It's so new, I do't want to miss any important steps.
Thanks for your time all.

If you do this upgrade do you have to re-install any of the third party software? Do all of your Profiles such as ringtones etc stay the same as well?
Thanks!

When I did it, I did not have to reinstall any 3rd party software, as I upgraded the OS it reinstalled them for me.
And it kept all my contacts and ringtones.

oh yeah, about the previous posts about upgrading and noticing Signal or Volume changes:
I upgraded to the Bharti OS, and now in my house I always get 3 or 4 bars, always EDGE.
Before, on the T-Mobile OS, inside my house I would always get 1 to 3 bars, almost always GPRS. I used to only get EDGE when I went outside.
I have been testing this for several days now.
This OS has definitely made 2 significant changes:
1. My volume is louder (I had to reset the volume levels on my profiles because they were now TOO loud), and
2. My reception inside my house is better.
So for those of you who are noticing these same changes after upgrading, it's not your imagination.

Until RIM makes a desktop software for mac, you're out of luck. Hopefully pocket mac will make this option available in future releases.

it's been this way for like 2 hours...I'm afraid to unplug. SOMEBODY HELP!!!

Thanks so much to Seattle18 for this extremely helpful information!
I made a BB sized Batman background to match the very sleek looking PC wallpaper I found online if anyone wants to use it or if you'd like to add it to your gallery.:

-1 Unread Messages -
10-16-2006, 12:25 AM
Hi there,
I followed the instructions and have installed the Zen theme - everything worked great, but now I have a weird setup in my email accounts, once I've read a message, it now shows (-1) next to the account - it seems to only be the case with my bberry push mail account...
Also the unread messages symbol at the top of the screen only shows when the screen is locked; is this normal?
Has anybody seen either of these before? Any ideas?
Thx

Followed the steps precisely and everything goes well until I perform the update in step 8. When I try to update the system I get an Invalid Configuration Window. See attached image. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Got it figured out. Looks like I shouldn't have been doing the update at 0230... guess I forgot a step. Turns out I had two instances of the handheld software. Forgot to delete the original instance before installing the new.
Thanks for all the help here regardless.

8700c newbie... 2 Q's -
10-28-2006, 10:28 PM
I noticed that they have updated the firmware for Bharti to BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.1.0.466. Can/should I use this instead of 280?
Also I have Desktop Manager 4.2 installed. Will that work?
Regards,
Scott

The Zen is OK, but I'm REALLY diggin' the Vodafone Today theme. I've tried several times to start using the Zen theme since everyone seems to love it so much, but I keep on reverting back to Vodafone Today!
Puts all of my important info on the home screen, and looks nice and clean. Granted, I'm not thrilled about the colors, but the functionality (now that the mysterious SMS problem has disappeared) is fantastic.

Be Careful with Blackberry OS -
11-01-2006, 01:12 PM
I have an 8700g and put 4.1.0.309 on as my OS, and now need to un-do everything as that OS is intended for a 7105t. It played havoc with my network sporadically connecting to gprs and then edge and then losing connection entirely.
Is that link out of date for the 8700g OS?

Just wanted to thank everyone who posted the Zen theme instructions. It worked perfectly for me and I love the new look.
My only question is this: Is there a way to get new wallpaper pictures on the phone by sending them through the app loader or do you have to do it OTA.
Thanks

How do you delete the Zen theme and go back to the original theme?
I keep having issues with the Zen theme so I'll just stick with the basic.

Frustrated. -

I'm still yankin my hair out all night trying to get this damn Zen gig to work.
My phone is the Sprint 8703e.
I followed the first pages directions to the "T" and all I'm getting is an error stating that
I'm downgrading my software and it won't work.
I read this whole thing.....
blackberryforums.com/ringtones-themes-wallpaper-discussion/37436-vodafone-dimension-
today-themes-8700-only-download-installation-information.html
Am I supposed to have a different ALX file for Telstra to load properly here or what ?
