I followed your steps, but could not locate, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.1.0.284_P2.0.0.120

Any suggestions?

Did you try going to options/advanced options/Host Routing Table/ click track wheel then select register now? That's what I did and my browsers showed up.

Ok, I'll ask it.

What is the Zen theme? This all makes it sound more like another OS rather than a true theme. WIll someone please fill me in on the basics..... Thanks!@

The Zen theme is just that. A new theme. It's a list based icon theme that when activated allows you to view more of the screen. This theme is included in a certain OS.

The onnly way to get the theme is to install the OS it comes with. This offers some additional enhancements as well (louder ear piece, louder ringer etc.)

Thanks for the thread.

In step 3, I run the 38M downloaded app and I get the following message: "Error reading setup initialization file." It has an "OK" button and then exits. I have the latest DM version 4.1 installed and working (uninstalled and reinstalled just to make sure). Any ideas?

Ok, I've been watching this thread for a while now. For some reason, I didn't want to jump in to the upgrade. I'm a technical idiot. But today, I thought what the heck. If a lawyer with a law degree from FSU (Seattle18) could do it, I figured this dumb-ass Gator could do it. Glad jibi wrote the 'dumbest' intructions he's ever wrote. Even I could follow them. For all those out there who are worried about trying the upgrade, if I can do it, then you can.

The upgrade was flawless. Love the Zen theme. Like the 'desktop' look. Like the better phone volume. Like everything about it.

I'm on a company BES. No problems with that either. Email coming in as before the upgrade.

So thanks Seattle18 and thanks jibi for working this out for us. It is very much appreciated.

Actually I got my B.S. from FSU and my law degree from Stetson. Regardless, as much as it pains me to say this to a $%&@#! Gator, I'm happy for you. YUCK!

I tried to find it in this thread and others, but probably missed it. Here goes...

Anyone else have a problem with the icons for third party apps in the Zen theme? I have Konverter, Google Local for Mobile, rCalc, and a couple others. They all have the same 'blank screen' icon on the main Zen screen. Their icons are correct on the "other applications" scrolling menu.

Any fixes for this? It is a problem as I prefer to keep more than one of these on the main screen since there are no kbd shortcuts for them.

Thanks!!

Unfortunaltely, there isn't currently a fix for this. The best solution is to arrange the icons so that your favorite native BB apps are on the home screen, and your favorite non-native BB apps are the first ones that appear in the submenu. Either that or just deal with the generic icons on the home screen.

Thanks Seattle.

I did that and assigned the side convenience key to pop up the additional applications menu.

Actually, it is a pretty good work around.

Well,

Thanks for the awesome theme. This is the best I have found. I followed the instructions perfectly and had only one issue arise......

I cant find my Browsers anymore.... No matter what theme I use the "Cingular Browser" and "Internet Browser" are nowhere to be found.

Probably, I am just missing them.... Do you guys have any ideas for me? I have looked all over the place.

Sorry.... How do I do that?

Edit...... Well, If I would have clicked on your VERY HELPFUL link to the cheat sheet I wouldn't have had to ask you for more help.

Note to newbies..... These guys have probably already answered your question somewhere else.

Thanks!!!

Do a security wipe on the handheld (and disable the password if its enabled and they have the ability to disable it), uninstall/reinstall BlackBerry Desktop Software and see if it'll connect afterwards.

I doubt it. But. if there is a problem with your device and you need repairs or replacement, you can just as easily return to factory settings before visiting the Cingular store. It's the same process, just using the original Cingular build as opposed to this new one - simple.
